This is Part II of a two Part blog. Go to my blog entry of 01/11/10 for Part I.
How can you live your life not knowing who you ARE?
It is the most important question you can ask yourself. It is the most important quest you can embark on in your life. And it is precisely why you have incarnated this time.
Your purpose in coming forth in this dimension at this time is to come to truly, finally and completely "Know Thy Self." To finally without a scintilla of a doubt know who you ARE so that you can embody and experience that "knowing" throughout the rest of your eternity.
In other words you have come forth this time to totally "get" this lesson and to then move on to greater and greater experiences and realizations of the Love of God/Goddess.
For each one of you the process of getting the answer to the question of "Who AM I?" will be different. So, there is no one way to find the answer nor is there the same answer for every one.
But as you ask the question, you begin to eliminate who you are not and then eventually you come to know who you are.
You will know that you are there, that is, that you have found the answer, when you have stopped asking the question. For there is no answer to the question of ´"Who AM I." Actually, there is not even the question. There is just the profound experience of your Self as God/Goddess.
And when that "knowing" comes over you, you know you "know" who you are and why you are, but it no longer matters!
For now you have found your Self and all your questions have now turned into answers.
So, what was once a big "WHY" no longer matters. And the big "WHY" has now turned into a big "Y" that stands for and sees it all as one big "YES!"
So, seek ye first your Self and all will be added!
NB Please do think about what you have just read, just "feel" it; don't think it and you then will "know" if it resonates with you.
This is Part II of a two part blog.
Actually, becoming awakened is very simple. Just learn how to "be present" with your Self and this will allow you to be "awakened" to who you really are. As well, it will help you to know all you need to know about your current life circumstances and about others.
But what does "being present" with your Self really mean? It means just sitting and listening to your self. Listening initially to the dissonance of fear, anger and confusion that by default keeps running in your mind; and then letting all that static fade away so that finally, in the Silence, you get to hear your real Self.
And there, in the presence of your Self, you know you "know" and then you are finally, truly, and irrevocably free from all the limiting beliefs that block you from knowing and "being" who you ARE.
It is in this place and space of communion, connection and Embrace that you will find the answer to the most important question you could ever ask of yourself: "Who AM I?" And the answer that you find will be one that will help you to realize and take ownership of the fact that you are loved, whole, and free and that you have eternal value!
For this precisely is what awakening really is--knowing who you really ARE in all your magnificence and splendor! "Being present" with your Self is the key that will help you to open the doors to the mystery and majesty of who you really are.
This will allow you to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, Nirvana, Valhalla, the place that is your true domicile, your real home--a place of profound love, truth, and wisdom.
So, just sit with your Self for awhile each day this week and ask that you can come to "Know Thy Self!" Ask sincerely and "be present" to listen; and believe me, all the forces of Heaven will come to your side to assist you.
Doing this is a marvelous opportunity to be present with your "most significant other"--your Self!
How can you live your life not knowing who you ARE?

This is part IV of a four part blog. Please see my last three blog entries on October 30, November 1 & 6 for parts I, II, & III.
It is in meditation where you can connect with the essence of your object of attention. It is in meditation where you can eavesdrop on your Self and on the God/Goddess within. It is in meditation where you can come to truly "Know ThySelf." Why not learn how to experience this sweet ambrosia of the gods? Why not learn how to experience your "Godness?"
As Yogananda wrote:
Meditation or consciousness focused upon itself is the ultimate revealer of who you really are, and what you truly are. You can discover an inner guidance within yourself, and that inner guidance will guide you to the destination you need to go. You have already been guided to many things which are opening you to be aware, but the greatest tool for self knowledge is Meditation.
Also, as Ramana Maharshi wrote:
Look! This little finger covers the eye and prevents the whole world from being seen. In this same way this small mind covers the whole universe and prevents Reality from being seen.
Lastly, this lovely sentence from "The Cloud of Unknowing" an anonymous medieval spiritual classic, sums it all up so beautifully:
So, learning how to still the mind through meditation helps one to learn how to truly listen to one Self and to another. It is in meditation that we access the essence and the heart of the matter, instead of getting all caught up in our heads and in the illusory surface appearance of things.
It is in meditation that we "see things clearly" and come to "know" ourselves and another. It is in this Silence where we can truly be present and Listen!

In order to learn how to Listen as I have described in my two previous blog entries, one must learn to quiet the mind through meditation. Meditation is the key to learning how to listen to your Self and to another.
The best passage that I have come upon to help one to understand what the state of meditation is and how it allows one to truly be able to Listen was written by Krishnamurti. In describing meditation he wrote:
Thought comes to an end. Then there is that sense of absolute silence in the brain. All the movement of thought has ended. It has ended, but it can be brought into activity when there is necessity in the physical world. Now, it is quiet. It is silent. And where there is silence, there must be space, immense space because there is no [little] self. The self has its own limited space; it creates its own limited space. But when the self is not, which means the activity of thought is not; then there is vast silence in the brain because it is now free of all its conditioning.
And it is only where there is space and silence that something new can be that is untouched by time or thought. That may be the most holy, the most sacred--may be. You cannot give it a name. It is perhaps the unnamable. And when there is that, then there is intelligence and compassion, and love. So life is not fragmented. It is a whole, unitary process, moving and living."
It is in this state of being that Krisnamurti describes above where one can be present and listening. It is a profound state of unity with one's object of attention; and it is a profound state of the heart. It bypasses the mind and all its myopic judgments.
This is why I have for years taught and promoted the sacred art of meditation. When you learn how to meditate you can truly focus on someone and truly listen because you are totally present. You are not in your head, but you are in your heart. You are sensing things from the inside out rather than just skimming the surface by thinking about them.

This is part I of a four part blog.
In order to come to "Know Thy Self," one first must learn how to "Listen." For it is only by really knowing how to "Listen" that one can get "a handle one's 'Self.'" And it is only through "Listening" that we can be true to our Selves and live an empowered, passionate, fulfilled, joyful life.
Usually all we hear or listen to is the noise and static that our fearful, angry, worried ego mind produces; this noise effectively blocks out our ability to hear what is really important, what is at the core of who we are.
It is only by learning how to embrace the Silence, that we can hear anything important. It is only by being quiet that you can "hear" your Self, "hear" another, "hear" nature, "hear" Spirit, and "hear" the God/Goddess within. One must quiet the fretful ego mind in order to hear one Self and come to "know" one Self.
for longer than anything else. It will remain after you leave
and exist long after all other things have faded.

This is the last of the eight blog posts for this Mini-Course. Below I review some phrases that summarize this course. Use them as a review and also use them as an opportunity to do a brief meditative reflection on what they might mean for you in your life. You can journal about them, as well.
And as I mentioned on my Monday, April 7, 2008 Blog post, I will be leading you in a lengthy template meditative exercise on my Friday, April 11, 2008 Podcast so you can “tune in” deeply for yourself.
Listen with your heart and not your head.
Speak before you think.
Feel first, think later.
Speak Your Feel.
Talk your Feel.
Quiet your mind and open your heart.
Learn how to "go within" and you will never be "with out!"
Learn to "see" from the Inside Out and you will "see" the whole picture. You no longer need to skim the surface of life, but now you can jump all the way in!
The true treasures of life are free, but invisible to the physical eye. Come learn to see again!
The final frontier is within You!
After you do the Template Meditation exercise, reflect on the impressions that you received about yourself.

This week, during my Friday Podcast of April 11, 2008, I will be leading you in a lengthy template meditative exercise so you can deeply “tune in” for yourself.
Today, I will explain a bit more about how to use the template that I will lead in during my Podcast.
If you really want to get an intuitive “read” on a person or situation, the best technique I have found is the following. Close your eyes and imagine that the individual you are focusing on is a rose. Then just see what kind of rose they become: that is, what size, color, texture, luster, glow, etc. Note whether the petals are vibrant or dried out, whether they are open or closed, etc. Notice as well, whether the rose is all alone, in a bouquet, in a rose bush, in a desert, etc. Notice, too, whether it is sunny, rainy cloudy, dark, etc. Just keep looking at the rose and it will, in the picture it paints for you, tell you more than 10,000 words of information about that individual or situation.
Don’t force this process and don’t use your cognitive mind, instead use your intuitive, creative faculties to “read” and “feel” the energies. Feel don’t think. Analysis will lead to paralysis.
You must allow the rose to spontaneously form before you and then just trust whatever intuitions, inspirations or feelings you get. They will give you a truckloads worth of information.
This is Part VII of an eight part blog.
This is Part VI of an eight part blog.
Intuition is really a gift. It truly makes it possible for you to know who you realy are. The difficulty in defining it – the difficulty in working with it – is that it's not something you "do." It's something you "allow" to come through you. You can’t “do” it with your mind; you simply allow it to flow through your heart. It occurs as inspiration and not as perspiration. It’s a “non-doing.”
When I teach my Intuition classes I tell my students, "Don't think; Speak before you think. Your mother or your dad may have said to you, ‘Think before you speak.’ In this case, no, ‘feel first, think later; feel first and speak your feeling.’ What are you feeling?"
Again, Intuition is not a mental effort, it's not a striving, it just manifests through you. You start talking your “feel” and you have no idea where what you are saying is going to lead to. You follow the “golden thread” of your feelings. It’s not scripted; it’s inspired. It comes from the heart and not from the head. And it weaves a beautiful tapestry of meaning and purpose right there before your very eyes.
But it does require you to learn to trust in your Higher Self—in the creative, inspired part of you—rather than the limited, scripted part of your ego mind.
This is Part VI of an eight part blog.
This is Part V of an eight part blog.
Why would you believe that the answer to what is troubling you in your life now is in what you've already thought of or what somebody else has already told you? No, instead, it lies deep within you at the core of who you really are.
You know why you came upon this planet, you know why you are in the situation you are in now, you know why it's good for you – it's all really in Divine Order and Divine Timing – you know it's leading you to a deeper sense of Self, of awakening, of healing, of growth, and so forth.
So why try to use the mind to understand all this? It’s stuck in a box of limiting beliefs. Shift out of that place and enter The Land of Your Soul and there you will know who you are and you will know why you are where you are and where you are going.
Intuition opens you up to the big picture rather than to the little, narrow-minded picture of your ego. The ego says, "I'm suffering, whoa is me!" – but your Soul or Intuition helps you to see "No, at the moment, I am learning. And this is what I am learning and this is where it it’s all going and why.”
How do you make sense of the “things” that happen to you in your life? What do you use as your source for perspective, understanding, meaning and purpose in your life? Do you go within? Do you believe that there is a purpose and a meaning for everything that happens?
Quiet your mind for a moment and then bring up an issue in your life now that is a challenge. Focus on an image or feeling about it for a few seconds and then sit back and “see” what insights, inspirations or images you get. Don’t think; just trust and feel what you get.
Please go to my Podcast of April 4, 2008 and there I will lead you in this exercise or do it on your own.

Where is your reference point? Is it within you or outside you? Who do you use as your authority—yourself or another?
Do you use your Self as your sole reference point or do you use others? In other words, do you check within your Self first or do you always go without (i.e. you trust the opinion of others more than your own) in making decisions, big and small?
In order to access your Intuition and access your Self, you must “quiet your mind and open your heart.” There is no other way. And when you do this, you experience the Silence that is there when all the unrelenting thinking and emoting quiets down. And it is in this Silence where you hear your Self for the first time.
So, by learning how to shift into this internal space—this intuitive space, you are not only accessing your Intuition, you are also learning how to be "true to your Self;" and you end up hearing and listening to your Self and to no one else. So, you now begin to use your Self as your internal reference point. There is no other reference point but You – inside You – you now recognize, hear and listen to your own voice.
So, Intuition isn't just simply the, Woo, woo, well, “I see guides”. And, you know, “I was King Tut in my last lifetime," or whatever other kind of woo, woo stuff you might think it is. It's actually an opportunity for you to come to know You – to come to know Thou--the Divine that is You--the essence that is You and be “True to Your Self.”
This is Part IV of an eight part blog.
This is Part III of an eight part blog.
Your mind is basically useless – that's why I consider it a vestigial organ, on some level at least. To find that intuitive, Soul level part of yourself, you must quiet the external mind—the ego mind. As you quiet that mind and slip in between all your incessant thoughts and emotions, you then can begin to eavesdrop on your own Soul, on your Higher Self—your intuitive Self and on God/Goddess.
The mind only knows what it has been programmed to know, much like a computer. Your heart/Soul accesses the infinite “knowing” of the Universe and therefore, can and does “know all things.”
With the ego mind quiet, you can sense or “tune into” the subtle energies and realms. It’s really that simple and everyone can do it.
Do you rely on your mind too much—in other words on what you already know and believe rather than on the possibility of being inspired with new insights about yourself and others? Do you think too much? Take a moment to reflect on these questions.

I want to touch in on what it means to "go within," for when you “go within” you see/listen with your heart and not with your head. By “going within” you become one with your object of attention because you place it in your heart.
On the other hand, when you only use your head/mind, you are only seeing a small percentage of your object of attention because you are only using your logical mind to analyze, categorize and judge it, and, in effect, you are just scanning the surface of it. While, when you “go within” you learn how to “identify” with it – to “feel” it – to “embrace it.” And by doing this, you allow yourself to become “one with” it and see the whole picture from the Inside Out.
In other words, when you're looking at something from the outside, i.e. with your mind, you are only seeing a small part of it. You are truly just skimming the surface, but when you allow yourself to become a part of it internally, then you see the whole picture because you have become “one with” it.
What I am suggesting above is a very different way than most people use to gather information about a person or a “thing.” By interacting in this way, you gather information with your heart and not your head. The mind does not truly “understand” anything; it just analyzes and measures. It is the heart that really “knows.”
As Vine Deloria, a Native-American scholar wrote in this regard:
“For primitive people the presence of energy and power is the starting point of their analysis and understanding of the natural world...primitive people felt power, but did not measure it. Today we are able to measure power, but do not feel it.”
What do you think about what I have suggested? Do you think it is possible for you to use your heart as the primary way to gather information?
Close your eyes now and take a moment to focus on a person you care about. Instead of thinking about them, just softly focus on an image/feeling of them and see what you feel” about them rather than what you “think” about them. Then spontaneously jot down a few notes about what you “felt.”
Do the same as above with someone you recently met or don’t know that well.
You can do this exercise on your own now or go to my Podcast of March 21, 2008 where I lead you in this exercise.

What follows is an eight part mini-Course on Intuition. In this course you will learn how to honor and use your intuition to empower your life and live authentically.
Besides offering you written material to read on my Blog posts, I will, as well, lead you through a number of Intuitive Meditative exercises on my Podcasts.
So, enjoy this mini journey into The Land of Your Soul.
Why I feel that intuition is such an important skill to learn is because it is the best and most empowering tool with which you can come to know:
1) Who you are.
2) Where you are in your life right now.
3) Where you are going.
4) Why you are going there.
and
5) What to do next.
So, as well as being a metaphysical tool to explore the inner realms; intuition is, also, very, very practical.
What are your reasons for wanting to learn how to “connect” intuitively? Is it to connect with your Higher Self, other people, your Guides, your Ancestors, etc? Is it to help you make better decisions in your life, to feel good about yourself, to impress others, etc?
Take a few minutes to reflect on this. It will help you to set your intentions for this course and doing this will also help you to get the most out of it.

This is Part II of a two part blog.
There shines not the sun, neither the moon nor star,
nor flash of lightening, nor fire lit on earth as bright.
The Self is the light reflected by all.
He shining, everything shines after him.
And as the Sufi mystics write:
He whom the galaxies can not contain, he is in my little heart.
The key to “being present” for oneself is found in meditation. Because in meditation one gives oneself the opportunity to truly come to “Know Thy Self”—that is, to truly come to know who you ARE and why you ARE!
It is so hard for the ego mind to wrap itself around who you really ARE. The ego mind is only capable of remembering the conditioning which it has been fed since birth. It knows nothing about the Divine plan that you formulated before it came into being. It has no clue regarding your infinite potential; and it certainly has no idea about the incredible mysteries and majesty that lie within you.
So, why do we keep relying on the ego mind to help us get to know ourselves or to understand what our purpose is?
The ego mind is meant to be the servant of our Soul. It is not meant to be our master.
So, learn how to access your true purpose by quieting your ego mind and listening instead to your heart/Soul. Then you will discover who you ARE and why you ARE!
Meditation is the key to this because in meditation the ego mind is quieted and in that Silence one can then eavesdrop on the God/Goddess within. And there and then who you ARE and why you ARE becomes crystal clear.
So, take the time now to simply “be” with your Self--your “most significant other”--and discover the majesty and mystery of who you are.
Quiet your mind and open your heart and you will come to “know Thy Self!”
What does it mean to love one self or to love another person? As I have journeyed through my life, I have come to the following understanding of what it means to truly love:
But what does it mean “to be present” for yourself?
As far as I am concerned, you are your most “significant other.” So, in order to love yourself, you must be fully present for yourself. You must be “listening” to your Self. You must be honoring yourself. You must be accepting and appreciating yourself unconditionally. This is love: “Being totally present for your self” with no judgments, no analysis, no preconceived beliefs, concepts or ideas of what you “should” be or do--just an acceptance and gratitude for who you are now.
Giving this kind of love and presence to yourself is the key to Self-Mastery and happiness; it is actually “the key” to Life. “Being present,” in this way, I believe, is the answer to the perennial question of “How do I truly love myself or another person?”
So, to be in an authentic relationship with yourself or with another person requires that you “be present” in the way I have described above. Otherwise, all you are doing is judging and analyzing yourself or another with your mind, but you are not “being present” with your heart.
The mind, through its judgments and analysis, creates duality and separation, the heart naturally seeks unity and oneness. The mind creates a sense of “being other than;” the heart, on the other hand, “becomes one with” its object of attention and “knows” by “identifying with” it. It knows from “the inside out.”
This is the key to mastering the art of love.
Carl Rogers, the noted psychologist wrote in this regard:
So, love is simply “being present” and listening with your heart and not judging with your head!

This is Part XII of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 09/03/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
This whole process that I am describing to you is astounding in what it reveals to you about your “story.” As you begin to unravel your “story,” as you “inquire into” and “examine” what you believe and who you think you are, you will be amazed at what you uncover and recover.
As you do this process, you will no doubt, at some point, be hoodwinked into believing you have it all together, too. Don’t buy into that one either. We are all “works in progress” and we will never get it done! It is just an ongoing process of discovery and recovery and ascent into higher and higher levels of Self-Mastery and selfless-Love.
Where I would like to leave you now is to suggest to you that It, that is, Life, is all about learning how to love unconditionally, everyone and everything you experience. Actually, L I F E is an acronym for Love It For Ever!
Life is learning how to love, accept, embrace and appreciate all that we experience, no matter how it may seem.
Nothing is at it appears to be. What we think we are seeing is often just us “looking darkly” through the distorted lenses of our limiting beliefs.
We were made from Love and out of Love and we are being given the opportunity to “own” and embody the essence of who we are. By having all the experiences we have, both the “good” and the “bad,” we are given the opportunity to love it all. As we do, we come to appreciate and embody the heart and Love of God/Goddess. We then become like God/Goddess and see it all through the eyes and heart of Love.
As Saint Paul wrote: So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Go for it! You have nothing to lose and your Kingdom to gain! This is what the purpose and meaning of your Life is all about!
Don’t take my word for it, though! Only take yours!
Peace be with you!
This is Part XII of a twelve part blog.
This is Part XI of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 09/03/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
From my point of view, as I wrote above, it all comes down to what Albert Einstein once wrote. Namely, that the most important question you can ask yourself is: “Is this a friendly Universe or not?”
Everything in your life is predicated on your core beliefs about the nature of this Universe and of Life itself. What kind of Universe do you believe you live in? What kind of Creator put this all together? Or, is there even a Creator? Is it all random? Is there meaning and purpose to it all?
Whatever you believe, you experience!
Whatever you are looking for, you get!
Whatever you ask for, you receive!
Whatever you are looking at, you see!
Whatever you believe, whether it is conscious or not, the Universe still is always responding in kind. “‘Like’ does in fact attract ‘like’.”
So what do you “like?” What do you expect? What do you believe is possible for you?
Who do your think you are--a child of God/Goddess or an orphaned misfit?
Do you believe that if you ask, you will receive? Or do you believe that the Universe is arbitrary and totally unpredictable?
Do you feel worthy of receiving? Or do you see yourself as a beggar just hoping that some benevolent power will grant you at least one wish because you have been so willing to be subservient to him or her? Are others more worthy than you?
As you “play” with this process of “Face, Embrace and Replace,” all kinds of questions like these above will begin to arise into your awareness. Stop and examine each one carefully and fully as I suggested above in Part VIII. Leave no stone unturned. For you never know what you will find waiting there for you under the most unassuming of stones.

This is Part X of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 09/03/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
As I wrote earlier, “you can’t do it alone!” And the most important belief I feel that we have to clear within ourselves is that we somehow believe that we are alone. We are not.
We are not “spiritual orphans” abandoned by a heartless Creator. We are precious, beautiful, beloved children that are cherished beyond what we can imagine by an incredibly loving Being. Yes! this applies to you and to every other being in all of Creation!
The Universe is indeed a friendly place. It is here to support you. It is filled with beings, physical and non-physical, who are always available and very willing to help you fulfill all your dreams. All you have to do is to ask and you will receive. The Universe wants to support you in any and every way possible!
I ask you now to re-read through the three preceding paragraphs again and see if any of what I have written is something that you do not presently believe. If there is something that is hard to believe or impossible to believe or sounds like a bunch of drivel, then perhaps you need to look at that belief and be open to the possibility that you may be looking at all of this in a mistaken way.
Believe me, if you can truly “own” in your heart and soul what is contained in these three paragraphs, you are well on you way to being true to your inherent, essential nature and to a life filled with meaning and purpose.
Take the time to “Face, Embrace and Replace” these three paragraphs and the beliefs contained within them, word by word, sentence by sentence, belief by belief and in time you will be free to be yourself!
Why am I so sure of this? Because I have come to understand that all healing is a spiritual matter. It’s not mental or physical or metaphysical!
It is about learning how to reconnect with the Love and support of your Creator! It’s about learning how to bypass the duality of the mind and enter the Oneness of the Heart.
This is Part X of a twelve part blog.
This is Part IX of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 09/03/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
Below is a poem by Eileen Cady, a co-founder of the Findhorn Community that I feel can help you to better understand the process and the opportunity that you are offering yourself when you consciously choose to really “be true” to yourself.
I would suggest that you read this passage over slowly and carefully a couple of times and let its message sink in. For within it is contained the keys to taking courage and to “replacing” and transmuting all that which is not you into all that which is!

So, how this “Face, Embrace and Replace” process works is that you first identify a belief or two about yourself or your life that you feel uncomfortable with. You can do this simply by just sitting down and spontaneously writing down whatever comes to your mind and as you do you will come up with a few uncomfortable beliefs.
Then, after that doing that, find a comfortable place where you can quietly be away from the distractions of life. Take a few deep, cleansing, relaxing, healing breaths, close your eyes, and then just sit there with one of the beliefs you are uncomfortable with.
This is the “Facing” phase of the process. By doing this, you are identifying the belief and taking ownership and responsibility for it.
Now comes the “Embracing” phase of the process where you allow whatever feelings that come up to come up around this belief. Just “embrace” these feelings that come up now—no matter how uncomfortable or negative they may be. Just sit and be with them for two to three minutes or so. If you wander, just come back to the focus of this exercise which is your feelings and not your “thinkings.”
Then after you have sat with your feelings for a bit, ask your self how you can change this belief. You are now entering the “Replace” phase. Then sit and “listen” to whatever impressions, thoughts, feelings or images that come up for you. Don’t be afraid of what you “hear” or “see” or “sense.” Just accept! Change is a challenge for almost everyone, but it is good!
Then ask for the courage to take the actions and make the changes in your life that need to be made in order for you “to be the change you wish to become!”
Yes, truthfully “facing” and identifying your beliefs is challenging and so is “embracing” the feelings that surround them, but the biggest challenge is “replacing” them. And to replace them you must have the courage “to be yourself.” This is the biggest and most important challenge you can possibly take on in your life, that is, to dare “to be your self!”
You can “be yourself!” You are not alone; but boy it is not easy to believe at first!

Life is a juxtaposition of opposites. The yin is looking for it’s yang to complete itself; the yang for it’s yin; the negative is looking for the positive; the positive for its negative; the feminine for the masculine; the masculine for the feminine; the ebb for the flow; the flow for the ebb; the in-breath for the out breath; the out-breath for the in-breath.
So, as we sort through all the dross of our beliefs, please understand that everything we unearth and experience is there solely to help us to climb higher upon our mountain of Self-Mastery. Our “opposites” are our “complements.”
Nothing is in our way! Everything is The Way! Your Way! The “High” Way!
So which way are you going? Which path are you taking—the High road or the low road?
One of the most valuable phrases and techniques that I have found on my path is: “Face, Embrace and Replace.”
Over twenty years ago, I had a spiritual reading with a man whose name I have lost and forgotten. In that reading he introduced me to this phrase and the “work” that goes along with actualizing it. I am eternally indebted to him for it. For it has given me the formula for how to look carefully at my belief systems and then how to transmute the dysfunctional ones into functional ones.
So, again, it all began with me not being comfortable in the roles my parents and friends were expecting me to play.
How about you, did you just accept the roles you were uncomfortable with anyhow and just try to make the “best of it?” Or did you totally deny that you had dreams and desires that were not being supported?
What roles are you presently playing that are not comfortable or true to who you are?

Actually, at this point it might be helpful for us to explore the etymology of the word “story.” It comes from the Greek and Latin and means “to inquire into” or “to examine.” So, as we explore our stories here, let’s really “inquire into” and “examine: honestly and thoroughly what beliefs we base our lives upon.
As Socrates once said:
The life unexamined is not worth living.
What we are exploring here is not simply a mental exercise, but it is a “life” exercise. This is about exercising your “life-giving” muscles. These “life-giving” muscles are your ability to choose, to create, to intend, to dream, to love, to laugh, to be free, to nourish yourself, to experience change, to honor and love yourself and others, to “be true” to yourself, to “know yourself” from the inside out and to experience the God/Goddess within you.
I suspect that one of the biggest false beliefs that I carried around for a very long time was the belief that “I was not good enough.” I was always overestimating others and underestimating myself. I might add at this point that this is the best way I have found to give away my power!
Now, let me be clear here I am not suggesting that you now go around overestimating yourself and underestimating others. That doesn’t work either. For some folks this is the belief/pattern that needs to be examined. It wasn’t the one I needed to examine, though. But we are all in this together and opposites do manage to find each other in order to balance each other out and find the “golden mean.”
We create our opposite in order to find the balance we seek and to help another find his or hers. It really is a neat Universe we live in! I’ll explain further.

I knew that something was “wrong,” so to speak, when I was quite young. I always felt that I didn’t fit in anywhere—even before entering Kindergarten! My parents wanted me to be a “certain” way and my friends wanted me to be a “certain” way. But none of it was comfortable for me. No of it made sense. None of it fit! None of it was “certain” to me!
I’m not sure when the following question began to be a conscious one for me, but it seems that it was one that came up for me at a very early age, for it has stayed at the forefront of my awareness all my life and has been the primary determining factor in all my decisions in my life; it has been, in effect, my North Star: The question I am referring to is: What is the purpose of my Life! What is the meaning of Life?
I know that these are two questions, not one, but for me they were always one and the same—inseparable—two sides of the same coin! I could never get away from these questions. No matter how hard my ego/little self tried to distract me, these questions always appeared up-front and center-stage for me.
Yes, these questions were and are my North Star! Whenever I remembered to ask them of myself and then stopped long enough to listen to the answer I got and followed what I received, I would, as a result, find myself on my path and would be actualizing my purpose in my life and my life would have meaning.
Whenever I didn’t ask these questions and relegated them to the dust bin of obscurity and irrelevance in my life, I got myself in big trouble. Yes, they were always there in the forefront, but I, at times, looked away or down and missed what was right in front of me and what was most important.

Thus, I discovered that I had to dig deep within to find the “bedrock” of my “being” and free myself from the quicksand of other people’s desires and expectations of me.
To do this I had to plumb the depths of my little self and navigate past all of its fears and insecurities and come up, instead, to land upon the solid ground of the shores of my Higher Self! There I could stand on the core foundation of who I really AM. There I could look at myself in the mirror and see who I really AM!
As I began to do this, I clearly realized, then and there, that I could no longer live in the shadow of my ego or of someone else’s expectations, but had to live in the Light of my Soul!
I am well aware that all of this is a lot easier said than done—but regardless this kind of brutally honest soul-searching is very, very necessary.
So, what I would like to share with you now is a bit of my story; how I originally wrote it, how I gradually began to read it over and rewrite it, how I eventually chucked the whole thing, and how I, now, no longer have a story, but just AM from moment to moment!
It’s all about “Being” and not about “doing.” A story “does;” a Life IS. I choose to BE who I AM and not to just “do.” I am a human “being” and not a human “doing.”
So, let’s explore this story a bit, perhaps it can help you to find or refine yours, as well!
So, let’s discover what it means “to live your life from the inside out,” to live your life seeing everything and everyone through the eyes and heart of your Soul rather than following a prepared, cookie-cutter script and being blind to and afraid of the possibilities that are you!
This is Part IV of a twelve part blog.
This is Part III of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 09/03/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
In other words, I lived with beliefs and expectations that were limiting and that assumed that my life was not my own. I assumed that my life was just something that had already been scripted by others and that it was my responsibility to follow that script and then all would be well and safe!
But what I didn’t understand was that all the “stuff” that I didn’t want in my life was there simply because I didn’t realize that I was letting it be there. I was allowing it to be there because I believed, deep down inside, that life was not much more than tagging along on a prearranged plan, following orders, paying taxes, having a few beers and then dieing.
Parenthetically, I know that the above description of what I expected of life sounds rather morose and exaggerated, but it was pretty true to course considering what I was experiencing in my life. But, and this is a big BUT, there was also a part of me that knew that life was about joy, freedom and love.
But somehow my dysfunctional, old belief system had me accepting as true that I had to endure all this “sad” stuff so that as a reward for my penance I could occasionally be doled out a few of life’s pleasures and riches. Boy was I ever totally wrong about that belief!
I came to realize that I really had a poverty mentality: Life was a drag; Money was not easy to attain; I had little to offer others; I wasn’t really worthy; every thing was hard to come by! To attain anything, one had to work one’s tail off; nothing comes easy; it’s immoral to charge for my services; Money is the root of all evil; etc, etc, etc. My! What a litany of life-restricting negativity.
So, in time I came to realize that another’s person’s dreams were truly my nightmares!
And I also came to realize that there was no safety or security on the shifting sands of another’s’ expectations of me. Sound familiar?

But it was interesting that I really believed that the characters in the story that I had “bought into” were real, even though I wasn’t being “real” or honest with myself. Actually, I thought that these characters and scenarios were more real than I was.
In other words, I believed that these characters and scenarios had an existence separate from me and that they could influence and affect me no matter what I did or didn’t do. I thought I was powerless in the face of these all-knowing, all-mighty “external” forces.
But I didn’t realize that I created them all for me to learn from and that they did not have an existence separate from me. They were me! I created them. I gave them life. I perpetuated them because I chose to. I allowed them to remain in my life.
How I chose to view them determined how I experienced them! They were me. I was them! No one forced them on me, I invited them all in! They were mine! Period!
Whew! In other words, everything in my life was something that I had, in some way or another, chosen, consciously or unconsciously, to have there with me. This was my script/story and I had written/created it all—all the drama, pathos, comedy and tragedy! All of it!
It was all mine and no one else’s! So, I either was conscious about what I was doing and got something I really wanted or I was unconscious about what I wanted and got what I didn’t want or understand. So, no matter how you cut it, whether I was conscious or not, I had attracted and drawn it all into my life.
This is Part II of a twelve part blog.
This is Part I of a twelve part blog.
I have a story to tell and that story is my story. I once thought that I had my story “down,” so to speak, and that I was living my own life. But as I became more and more conscious and honest with my self, I realized that it was not really my story that I was living. It was someone else’s.
It turned out that as I examined what I was doing with my life, that really all I was doing was following the script that someone else wrote for me. Actually, as I got even more truthful with myself, I realized that I, somewhere deep inside me, believed that it was my responsibility to follow the script that was handed to me.
That was kind of dumb, I guess, but it took quite awhile to open up to the truth of the matter and to be genuinely honest with myself.
Actually, it took quite a bit of courage to look at my life candidly and realize that I was living a “lie.” I wasn’t living my life. I was living the expectations and dreams of my parents and of others. All of which were well-meaning, I might add, but very little of which were mine.
And, as a result of all this, I came to ask myself this all important question:
So, I finally I got around to realizing that my life Is My Story and no one else’s; and that I can change it, keep it the way it is, erase parts or all of it, create new scenes, characters and scenarios, whatever! It’s my play to write and re-write—“to play with,” so to speak!
What I want to be and do, I CAN be and do!! Really! I just have to discover and recover what it is that I want to be and then have the courage to claim it!

This is Part IV of a four part blog. Please see my blog post of 08 20 07, 08 22 07 and 08 27 07 to read the passage from I Corinthians 13 that I am commenting on and to get a context for what I am speaking about in this blog post.
Given the imperfections of our ego minds, this is such a hard lesson to fathom. We keep being diverted into getting as many things “done” as possible in our lives and being better than another at doing one thing or another, rather than staying focused on learning how to “be” ourselves; and in “being” ourselves truly love, appreciate, accept and be present for ourselves and for one another.
You are not defined by what you “do,” but by who you “be.” And at the core or essence level of who you really are is simply and purely Love. You are Love and he/she, that is another, is Love. We are all Love. This, I believe, is the message Jesus wished for us to learn.
He didn’t care how good we got at doing anything, no matter how spiritual it was, [speaking in tongues, healing, prophesizing, etc.] all he cared about was whether we knew how to really Love. And Paul in his letter to the Corinthians was inspired to help the Corinthians get their priorities right, too.
How about you, are your priorities right? Are you looking within to find meaning and purpose in your life, or not?
And if you are looking within, great, but are you making a big deal of how good you are at some aspect of it? Or are you just quietly, but very powerfully allowing Love to lead the way in your life?
It doesn’t matter what you “do” or “have” in life. All that matters is who you “be” and how you “be.”
“Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven and all things will be added to it.”

We have incarnated, from my point of view, onto this planet in order to learn how to give and receive Love, period! We are put through the crucible of this life and many other earthly, challenging lifetimes in order to learn that, no matter what, “Love is the Answer.” If we can finally understand that our purpose in life is all about learning how to love ourselves and another as we would wish them to love us, we have gotten what unconditional Love is all about and why we incarnated on this planet.
Earth is a training ground for learning how to love unconditionally. We are all faced with numerous trials and tribulations in this regard and if we rely on our minds to find a solution or an answer, we are forever lost. But if we seek for answers within, there in the Silence, where the mind has stopped all its incessant ruminations, we get to hear the “still, small voice within.”
And it is there where we know who we really are and how to Love. There the bigger picture is revealed. There we see the Divine Timing, Order and Plan for all that transpires in our life and can be at peace no matter what!
There we are held in the “Embrace.” There we “no longer see through a glass darkly, but then face to face.” It is there where we get the strength and inspirations to Love ourselves and another fully and unconditionally. It is there that we realize that our value does not lie in any external things we do or have, but in the internal qualities of Love that we develop.
So, what treasures are you storing up for your transition to the spirit world or for your transition to “Heaven,” earthly ones that will vanish or internal ones that will bring you eternal joy and happiness?

As well, for this “new” religion to spread the way it did, despite all the strong persecution from the establishment, it had to be such a transformative experience that it would inspire people to risk “life and limb” to spread the “Word.”
So, early Christianity certainly was a religion that touched many people very deeply. The gatherings of early Christians were very “spirit-filled,” that is, charismatic and Pentecostal. People spoke in tongues, channeled, did healings, did prophecy, performed miracles, etc. It was quite a rich, emotional atmosphere that was created.
In the passage above St. Paul was writing to the Corinthians in order to help them to understand that all the phenomena that they were experiencing were good, but that they must not lose sight that the whole point of all this was the underlying Love that made all these miraculous things possible. To lose sight of that would be to lose sight of the whole message and mission of Jesus and it would also be losing sight of the whole purpose of the early Church that was emerging after Jesus’ Resurrection.
We all get so caught up in the phenomena of life and lose track of the essence of it all. In other words, we get caught up in the glitz and glitter of life and miss out on its real meaning. We get caught up in all kinds of surface external events and miss out on the internal aspect of things. We get caught up in “doing” all kinds of things, but miss out on just “being” true to our selves and “knowing” ourselves and what our real purpose in life is. We easily allow ourselves to be distracted.
This is Part II of a four part blog.
This is Part I of a four part blog.
Though I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but have not Love, I am a noisy gong or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. Though I give away all I have to feed the poor, and though I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient; Love is kind; Love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong; but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things; believes all things; hopes all things; endures all things.
Love never ends; as for prophecy, it will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect, but when the perfect comes the imperfect will pass away.
When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; when I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see through a glass darkly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall understand fully, even as I have been fully understood.
So faith, hope, love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
The quote above from I Corinthians 13 is probably my favorite quote in all of Western literature.
What I would like to do here is to first give a context for why St. Paul wrote what he wrote in Corinthians and then offer commentary on the actual passage.
After the Resurrection of Jesus a man named Saul was walking on the road to Damascus whereupon he had had a vision of the resurrected Jesus. In this encounter Saul, who previously was fiercely persecuting Jesus, had a major conversion or a metanoia experience and became a convert of Jesus. It was here as well that his name was changed to Paul.
Paul then went on, along with Peter, to be one of the two major foundational personalities in the spread of the emerging “new” religion, Christianity. In its early days Christianity was a very charismatic and Pentecostal religion. In order for it to spread as quickly and widely as it did, it needed to be a religion that had a deep profound affect on its followers.
At the beginning of the Christian era most people were illiterate and there certainly were no radios or TVs to spread the message. The message had to be spread by its power and it had to strongly touch the populace very deeply. It had to be “an experience they wouldn’t forget” so to speak, so that it would indelibly be etched in their hearts and minds.
As well, it had to be a very potent experience for them to change their religious affiliation to a “new” religion. Remember, they were living in very parochial, closed-minded times and changing one’s religion was no small thing to do. There was a lot of social pressure not to “leave the fold.”

What you look at is what you see. And whatever you are looking for, you will find!
So, now that you have a handle on your general attitude about Life, what is really neat about all this is that you can change your attitude. Yes, you can!
Once you are honestly aware of what your attitude generally is then you can gradually, consistently and intentionally change anything that is negative and not life-affirming about it into something that is.
Bit by bit as you notice the negative self-talk and the negative projections that you make on others or on situations, you can determine that you will look at them more positively. And by looking at them more positively, you will draw to you insights and inspirations into finding positive solutions to them. And, as well, you will learn what the larger life lessons were in these particular situations.
Remember that whatever you ask for, you will receive. And whatever you are looking for, you will find!
Life is constant stream of moving forward to higher and higher ground unless you choose to take the “low road.” By changing your attitude you get to take the “high road” in life and get to enjoy the broad vistas and the wide, clear horizons. Otherwise, if your attitude is negative, you get to wallow in the quicksand of your limiting beliefs on the “low road” of life, which some call hell.
Thus, as I wrote earlier, you get to choose your attitude and your attitude determines the kind of experiences you have. Thus, you, and only you, get to give meaning to your life!
So, is your underlying attitude about your life one that affirms your eternal, divine value? Or is it the opposite?
Your attitude is the key to your happiness and to the amount of Love and Life you experience. Change your attitude and you change your life! The “Kingdom of Heaven is with in you!”
This is Part IV of a four part blog.
This is Part III of a four part blog.
What you look at is what you see. And whatever you are looking for, you will find!
You can see an ending as a new beginning or as you can see it as something negative and terminal. You can decide that as one door closes another one opens. Or you can choose to remain fixated on the closed door and miss all the other doors and opportunities that are in fact opening before you.
The Universe is not a stagnant, unloving, unforgiving place. It is full of new possibilities and new probabilities all the time. It is constantly expanding and opening up new doors. Unless, of course, you are not looking!
You can choose to interpret a delay of any kind as Divine Timing or as a huge inconvenience that has negative providential significance in your life. You can choose to live your life “awfulizing” and “catastrophising” about every thing or see “the silver lining in every cloud.” You get to give meaning to your experiences by your attitude or how you choose to interpret them.
What kind of meaning do you give to your experiences?
Albert Einstein once wrote that the most important question that you can ask yourself is: “Is this a friendly Universe or not?” In other words is the Universe on your side or not on your side. How you answer this question determines your attitude about Life in general and your attitude about your life in particular. And, most importantly, it determines the kind of life you have!
So, take a moment to reflect consciously on this question. It actually is very, very important and is well worth a few minutes of your time……
So, what is your answer?
Your answer to this question, that is, what is your predominant attitude about life, is the sole determinant of what kind of life and what quality of life you have.

What you look at is what you see. And whatever you are looking for, you will find!
Attitude has a huge impact on your life. Actually, it is the most important determining factor in how you experience your life and in what and who you attract into your life.
Attitude is more important than any of the facts or details of a situation, than what has happened or not happened to you in the past, than who you know or don’t know, than what you have done or not done so far in your life. It is more important than the degrees and experiences you have had; than the amount of money you have presently, had in the past or wish you had; than present circumstances; than past failures or successes; than what other people think, say or do about you. It is more important than appearances, skills and talents. It will determine the success or failure a business or a relationship or, for that matter anything you are involved in.
What is so important to understand here is that you have a choice as to the attitude you have at any given moment regarding anything you are experiencing. And it is precisely this attitude that determines how you experience what you are experiencing. And, as well, it is your attitude that determines whether you will get more of the same or not.
You can not change your past. You can not change how a person will act or react to you; and you can not change a given situation. You can not change events as they unfold. But the only thing you can change is your attitude. You can choose to see the cup half-full or you can choose to see it half-empty.
This is Part II of a four part blog.
This is Part I of a four part blog.
What you look at is what you see. And whatever you are looking for, you will find!
What you place your attention on is what you notice. And what you notice defines your “reality.” Your “reality” is solely of your making. And you make it by the way you choose to look at things, as well, as by what things you choose to look at.
What do you choose, consciously or unconsciously, to focus on during your day? Take the time to notice.
Take the time, as well, to listen to your mind’s chatter on a regular, consistent basis during the day. If you find that what you are mostly focused on is negative, then that is what you are experiencing and then that is what you are attracting more of. If it is mostly positive then that is what you are experiencing and attracting more of.
What do you want more of: the positive or the negative experiences?
So, honestly ask yourself, what do you mostly focus on?
But you then might say to me in response to this, “But I can’t control my mind. It has ‘mind of its own’.”
Well, you know deep down inside that the statement above is simply not true and that it is just a lame excuse for being lazy. That is, you are too lazy to take the time to learn how to tame and master your “monkey mind.” Or, perhaps, it simply is that you are just unaware that it is really possible to “change your mind,” so to speak.
So, if you want to experience more Love and Happiness in your life, you must focus your thoughts on Love and Happiness. It’s really rather simple. But how you might ask do I do that.
Well, there is only one way to do that and that is to change your attitude.

This is Part II of a two part blog.
So the way to come to know truly who you are is to take the time to sit and simply “be” with your self on a regular consistent basis. Then you can truly come to know your self from the inside out. Then you can take actions in the world that are consistent and harmonious with who you really are rather than with what you think you should be or do. Then as you come to know your self in this way, you will know how others are, too.
Too often most of us choose what we do in our lives based on what we think others think is best for us, but somehow we never get in touch with what we feel and know on a very deep level is who we really are and is really best for us. So, we do things in our lives in an unconscious way and we end up living a very unaware, unfulfilled life.
We mistake “doing” for “being” and never find fulfillment, happiness or purpose. Instead all we find is more to “do.” We do get good at what we do, but we don’t get good at who we “be.”
We run around doing what we think we “should” be doing rather than what we know deep inside we want to do. We keep running around doing what we “should.” In other words we keep “shoulding” all over ourselves, but we never get around “being” ourselves or “being” true to ourselves.
So, what would you prefer: to “do” what you “should” with your life or “be” who you truly are? You get to choose.
This is Part II of a two part blog.
This is Part I of a two part blog.
Who are you, actually? Is “who you are” defined by what you do? Or is it defined by who you “be.”
It’s rather interesting that when we greet someone we habitually ask: “How are you doing?” Rather than: “How are you Being?” It seems that we do not care to find out about who they are and what is at the essence of their lives and is eternal and everlasting. But we prefer to find out about what they are doing externally which is transient and ephemeral.
What matters most about someone, from my perspective, is “who they are” and not what they do. What they do can be of interest, but what is most important to me is whether they are a loving, open, trustworthy, kind person. So, who they are counts a lot more for me.
We are good at determining how someone else is doing by noting their wealth and status. But how does one discern how someone is? It begins by first coming to know who you are. But you’ll never know who you are, until you start focusing on that aspect of yourself and not putting all your attention on what you do. If you are honest with yourself, you will realize that you spend most of your waking hours focusing on what you do rather who you are.
This is Part I of a two part blog.
This is Part XII of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 05/14/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
So, in conclusion, learn how to relax and let go emotionally and let God/Goddess and your Guides lead you into the fulfillment of your life.
When you have something that is hard to let go of, ask God/Goddess to take away that old baggage—to simply take it away—and to replace it with clarity. Just hand it over; it’s not your problem any more!
And by just simply doing this, you can release your hold on the problem. And by doing so, you create enough distance from it so that you can see the bigger picture and listen to the guidance that is coming in from a broader perspective.
Doing it the old way from within the box of your ego’s mind, will get you nowhere. It will just get you further boxed in.
So, allow yourself to be helped by God/Goddess. Have faith and confidence in Her/Him. If you can’t let go of a thought or situation, ask God/Goddess to help you release it. And She will. Be patient, gentle, generous and compassionate with yourself and with others.
Constantly keep refocusing the negative “stuff” by asking to see the “Good” in any given situation. As well, honor other people’s journeys rather than judging them, appreciate and accept every one and every thing with gratitude, and always ask yourself: what did this situation or individual teach me and then sit back and listen for the answer?
You are not alone! By no means are you alone! Hold on to God/Goddess’s hand. Do not let go! He/She is your strength and sustenance.
You were never intended to “go it” alone. You are not a “spiritual orphan.” God is always on your side, that is, inside you! So, quiet the ego mind and listen and you will come to hear and Know Thy Self.
So, learn how to look for “Soul”lutions in your life. Rather than trying to it do it all by yourself and then getting stuck in finding only “sole”lutions.
You don’t have to “wing it” on your own anymore. You’re not alone anymore! You have this wonderful group of souls who are very ready and able to assist you in finding your Self and being true to your Self.
You have an incredible well of Wisdom and Love you can tap into at any time. Just ask and then open to receive.
In conclusion, stop and ask yourself; “Who now do I choose to talk to or ‘commune with’ all day long?”
Give it a try! You have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. “Everlasting life” is waiting for you!
Please note that the word “communion” or “communicate” comes from the Latin and means to become one with. So, our purpose in life is to “communicate” with God/Goddess so that we can become one with Her/Him and then we can truly come to know and BE who we really ARE!
Peace be with you!
This is the final blog post of a twelve part blog.
This is Part XI of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 05/14/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
So, take the time every day to connect with and “listen” to your Soul’s promptings. Ask God/Goddess to help you with this. Ask your Guides to help you with this. Just ask and ask and ask and in time you will receive the guidance and clarity you seek.
And you will, through this process, have learned how to no longer listen to your ego, but instead to be guided by the promptings of your Soul. You will then know what it means to live a “Soul-filled” life.
So, whenever you find yourself lost in your thoughts of limitation and fear, ask God/Goddess and your Guides to help you find your way back home again. Ask for clarity and then refocus your negativity to positivity, so that you can release yourself from the yoke of the fears, anger etc that encumber you.
In other words, learn how to give it over to God/Goddess or your Guides for a solution. Don’t try to figure it out all by your self or try to control it, just offer it up to God/Goddess, let go and trust that it all will work out for your Highest Good and for the Highest Good of all concerned.
Your ego mind could not possibly have all the answers, only your God/Goddess mind does. Quiet the ego mind and then listen to the promptings and inspirations you get. Release your fears and let God/Goddess be your strength and inspiration.
Your ego is not strong; it is actually very weak and will eventually crumble at the slightest provocation. Your real strength lies in your connection with God/Goddess and your Guides. There you will find solace, strength and inspiration. There you will find your Self.
This is the source of all real strength and power. All the rest is worldly and will fade. What you have come forth in this lifetime to experience and embody is to really understand and learn what it means to dwell in the Love of the “Embrace;” and by doing so you really will have gained strength and wisdom.
None of us can do it on our own. We are all a part of a wonderful Soul family that is here to guide us to a higher and purer expression of the unconditional Love of God/Goddess. It is all rather incredible and so magnificently beautiful!
Part XII of this blog entry will post on 06/20/07
This is Part X of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 05/14/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
So, your Guides are very essential in helping you to feel “connected.” And, with their help and expertise, you can gradually trust that you are held in the heart and hands of the “Embrace” and that you are really, totally and completely cared for and loved.
And then you can flow effortlessly and joyfully down the stream of your life. You can, as well, just slide on over to the passenger’s seat and let them chauffer you around. You can let go of trying to control your life and instead allow it flow to you. You can let go of your ego’s point of view and learn to now see with and through the eyes and heart of God/Goddess.
So, quit trying to control everything! You can’t and you never will. It is totally futile. Learn to surrender your ego’s will and accept and dive, instead, into your Soul’s will for you. Embrace and Embody Your Soul’s Wisdom and Soar!
It’s all about quieting the ego mind and connecting with your Soul. And when you do, you feel so strong, free and light. And then you always know what to do next because it is always intuitively, not intellectually, obvious what is for your Highest Good.
Quiet the mind and learn how to wait and intuitively “listen in” so that you can hear what is for your Highest Good and the Highest Good for all involved. For most of you this is a radically different way of functioning.
Most people try to control events and others by imposing their will on a situation. They do this despite the fact that the actions they take are based on all kinds of false assumptions and partial truths that their ego has “bought into.” And they do it all without any real due diligence; they just do it out of raw impulse or ignorance.
The mind/ego is meant to be a servant of the Soul. But we have turned it all around and allow our ego minds to be the master and we ignore our Soul. We only listen to our minds and we never “hear” our Soul. This is a recipe for disaster!
This is Part IX of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 05/14/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
Another aspect of this that I would like to discuss now is that it is so important that we have a strong, clear loving relationship with our Guides. Firstly, all our healing comes through a direct relationship with God/Goddess and our Higher Self. And it is our Guides who are so pivotal in this process of connecting us with God/Goddess and our Higher Self.
Our Guides know us better than we know ourselves. As well, they can see where are lives are going and can help us to make the best decision regarding any situation that comes up. They know what is for our Highest Good and, if we touch in with them, they can help us find the straightest and clearest path to our healing and awakening.
Guides even help create situations that will help us to grow. They are really there for us. They are a part of our “Soul Family” and really care for us. And, again, they can help us make the best choice for our growth in any given situation.
But so few realize that they exist and even less people realize how helpful they can be. God/Goddess did not leave us out here to fend on our own. There is an incredible support network available to us. We just need to open the channels of communication to them and, boy, oh boy, will our lives change! But if we continue to just listen to our little selves, we will end up missing out on so much of what is possible for us.
So, to create this connection, all you need to formally do is to sit and just “listen” for ten minutes a day. Yup, that’s all! Just sit and quiet the ego mind, connect and listen. You do not need to do it for hours and hours, really!
As well, as you go through your day, keep a constant dialogue going with God/Goddess, your Higher Self and/or your Guides rather than waste your time and energy ‘talking” with a bunch of surly, unruly, negative characters that just drain your energies and have no vision for your life. With God and your Guides, you can dream big and then live those wonderful dreams, but with your low-life motley crew all you get is more of the same, old, sad story.
This is Part VIII of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 05/14/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
You can’t solve a problem at the level that it was created. You must get out of your box—that is your limiting mindset. You must get out of your own way! And the only method to do this with is to learn how to see things through the broadest perspective possible, namely, through the eyes and heart of God/Goddess.
So, it is all about connecting with God/Goddess, your Higher Self and your Guides and it is in this way that you get answers and see the bigger picture. But more important than just getting answers and seeing the broader perspective is “feeling” a sense of “connection” with All That Is. This is “the key.” This is why you were created—so that you could embody and experience this ultimate Love and “communion” with all of creation.
And as you make this connection, you truly learn how to develop unconditional Trust in God/Goddess, your Self and your Guides. As well, you learn how to appreciate that everything is perfect in your life and in Divine Order and Timing. Life becomes a magical adventure rather than a fearful series of unknowns. You now enter into the mysteries of life and can trust and “Let go and let God!”
As well, you learn as you evolve through this process how to develop high acceptance of your circumstances and, as well, how to release your ego’s limited and limiting expectations. This, too, is another key to becoming a Master—acceptance, appreciation and letting go! Once you see the bigger picture this becomes so much easier.
So, lastly, to understand God/Goddess and to develop a relationship with Him, you must be like Her. You are made in His/Her image. You are a reflection of the Source that created you. Be like who you ARE and you will “know!”
The more of God/Goddess in your life, the less needs and voids there will be in your life. Fill up with God/Goddess and you will never again run on empty again or feel alone!
This is Part VII of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 05/14/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
So, in order to bring in these positive, life-affirming energies and for you to return to the Land of your Soul, spoken about previously, talk to God/Goddess all the time; and, while you are at it, feel free to talk to Her/Him about anything! Yes, anything--just as you would with a loved one or a very close friend!
Ask Her/Him questions and trust that you will receive a response. God/Goddess communicates through Love. And Love is everywhere and messages are hidden in His/Her countless expressions Love.
For instance, notice the beautiful cloud formations in the sky, or the warm gentle breeze or the smile of a child, or the beauty of a tree. All these are talking to you! All these are expressing God/Goddess’s Love for you and are answers to your questions, if you just know how to “listen,” if you know the “code.” All of creation is a gift of Love from God.
By contemplating the Love that is all around you, clear answers come to you--no, not through the logical mind, but, instead, through your heart and through the intuitive, non-cognitive right brain.
The language of God/Goddess is Love. If you want to hear God/Goddess and develop a deep personal bond and relationship with Her, you must learn “Love.” You must see Love, look for Love, be Love, become Love, give Love, open to receive Love. Then you’ll get IT!!!! Then you will be able to speak face to face! Then you will find the answers to all your questions.
Also, whenever you find yourself with questions about why you find yourself in a “challenging” situation regarding your relationships, health or wealth, you might want to ask your Higher Self the following question: What lesson is there in this situation that will help me to learn how to more fully and completely love and accept myself or another?
So, rather than trying to avoid the situations you find yourself in, this process will help you to learn how to face them, embrace them and then, after having done that, you will be better able to replace or transmute them. Just ask your Higher Self or God/Goddess to guide you and the keys and answers to your healing will be given. But you must ask and then “listen.”
This is Part VI of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 05/14/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
The best way, I have found, to bring in more of these positive, loving energies is to talk to God/Goddess. Yes, literally chat all day long with God/Goddess. You “chat” all day long with all kinds of other characters in your mind, why not make God/Goddess your primary companion.
At this point, I would like you to literally stop and ask yourself: Who are my primary companions?
Who are you talking to most of the time: your “little self” with all its fears and limiting beliefs; your “imagined” enem(y)ies; your long lost friend; a fictional character; a TV personality? Who are you talking to and why?
And, most importantly ask yourself, “Is this doing me any good?
Why waste energy on “someone” or something that is of no benefit to you!
Also, why assume that it is impossible to talk to God/Goddess and to have a personal relationship with Her, if you have never really tried it? God/Goddess, aka, the “Big Kahuna,” started it all and is certainly the most experienced at Unconditional Love.
So, the real question here is, why do you keep “looking for Love in all the wrong places?”
Go to the Source and give it a try. What in Heaven’s Name do you have to lose--a boring, banal relationship with projections of your “lower self?” Please take the time to slow down enough to notice the company you keep! And when you do, I can assure you that you will want to make a change.
We are meant to be a human expression of God/Goddess. So, why not embody that now? Why not come to truly know your Source? What a great way to spend your time and energy!
Also, if you truly want to build up your self-worth, believe me, this is the best way to do it. Just imagine having a personal, loving, uplifting, eternal relationship with All That Is, your Source. It really doesn’t get any better than this!
So, return to the Land of your Soul. Get back to who you are as a Soul—no longer identify yourself with your present personality and lifetime! This will help you to really ground yourself and bring more fun and freedom into your life.
This is Part V of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 05/14/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
Yes, God/Goddess made it simple to create the life you want and to release your negativity, but it isn’t that easy to change your old habitual ways of thinking and feeling-- especially since you have practiced them in many lifetimes and, as well, have had them reinforced by your family and by society in general.
So, this is all a process in which you gradually, like peeling off the layers of an onion, become aware of more and more of the layers of limiting beliefs and negativity that you participate in, and as you do, you gradually release them.
So, to most expeditiously facilitate this process for yourself, begin by becoming very aware of your thoughts.
What do you think about most? What do you worry about most often? What issue, situation, or person is most dominant? Also, ask yourself, what thoughts am I having that I can not let go of? Just sit and listen to yourself; you’ll be amazed at what you find!
This is no different than driving a car. In order to drive a car you must know how to start it, steer it, etc. and then while it is in motion, you must be very cognizant of where you are spatially and where you want to go and where others are relative to you. But you didn’t learn how to do this all at once. It took time. And what was initially a complicated task to achieve, namely driving a car, has now become routine and easy.
So, too, if you give the ruminations of your mind as much attention as you did the mechanics of driving your car, you will gradually become a Master of your thoughts, and, therefore, a Master of your Life.
So, practice raising your level of awareness with regard to how the negativity comes in for you. Also notice what thought patterns leak your energy and then let them go and bring in more positivity.
So, you gradually notice the patterns and then you gradually release them and in time you have created a whole new reality for yourself.
You do this one step at a time: “Inch by inch, it is a cinch; yard by yard, it is hard.”
This is Part IV of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 05/14/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
Your mind is the problem and your mind is the solution!
God/Goddess made it simple for you to get out of this trap where your mind is both the problem and the solution. All you have to do is to shift out of the fear, anger, worry, etc that you usually are focused on and instead move into trust and gratitude!
Shift what you place your attention on from negative to positive; and what you see and experience in your life will be radically transformed. You can change yourself, if you change your self; that is, if you change your thinking!
So, slow down enough to take the time to ask yourself the following: What leaks your energy out, what disconnects you from Source? And when you do, you’ll see that negative thinking is the culprit.
Negativity closes down your ability to receive the Universal prime energy of Love and Wisdom that is there waiting for you to tap into. It puts up a defensive barrier to all the pure positive energy that the Universe wants to pour into you.
Positive thoughts and expectations draw in this pure, positive life force energy through your crown chakra. But when you are in a negative loop, you restrict the flow of these positive, loving energies to you. You close the door to them, so to speak.
The experiences you have in your life are created by the variety of thoughts you have. Happy thoughts create happy and healthy experiences; negative thoughts attract and create unhealthy experiences. You get to choose.
So, too, different cells are created in your body by the different thoughts you dwell on. Happy thoughts create happy and healthy cells, negative thoughts create unhealthy cells. You get to choose.
So, it is very important to observe the limiting beliefs you have that restrict you. Take the time to just “be” quiet with your Self and you will see your patterns. Notice what comes up.
Ask yourself: What makes me lose it? What blocks me from bringing it all in? And then after you identify your energy drains, choose to let them go and then bring in more joy and love.
More about how to do this in the next blog post.
This is Part III of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 05/14/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous parts.
So many people get caught up in the details and minutiae of life and miss the bigger picture. Many see the dot on the top of the “i” but completely miss the “i” as well as the word that the “i” is contained in, least of all do they even imagine that there is a sentence, paragraph, chapter and whole book that that “i” is a part of. As well, they miss that the book is part of a library that is part of a culture, that is part of a planet, that is part of a solar system, that is..., that is …, ad infinitum…a part of…
We are so much more than that little “i” that we identify ourselves with. We are not the ego mind, we are the Self! We are the Divine Self!
So, I hope to help you to better see the bigger picture that the words above are pointing to through what I will be sharing with you in this series of blogs.
So, how does one learn how to love purely and unconditionally?
It all boils down to developing your own very personal relationship with God/Goddess.
As well, it depends on you developing a very direct connection with your Higher Self.
And the greatest tool you have to help you create this special, personal relationship with God/Goddess and your Higher Self is all your Guides, Mentors, Masters, Angels, etc—your heavenly crew of helpers who are there solely for this purpose—namely they are there to help guide you into a very deep connection, “communion” and oneness with your Self or Soul and with God/Goddess.
These Guides, Mentors, Master, Angels, Extra-Terrestrials, or whatever name or identity you want to give to them, really do exist and they really are here to help you—really!
You are way more powerful than you ever dreamed of, and have all of God/Goddess’s Love and Wisdom surrounding you in every way, wherever you go and whatever you do! That is what your Angels, Guides and Mentors want you to know and feel. You are not alone. You are not a “spiritual orphan.” You are a very powerful being who has a whole host of help at your side!
This is Part III of a twelve part blog.
This is Part II of a twelve part blog. Part I begins on 05/14/07. In order to better understand what follows, it would be best to read the previous part.
In order for any of what I will be sharing with you in this series of blog posts to “work” for you, you will have to not only suspend judgment, but also let go of trying to make sense of any of this with your ego, left-brain mind.
“All of reality is not thinking” as Carl Jung wrote. So, in order to get into these new realities, you will have to shift out of your old habitual way of receiving and processing information, that is by using your left-brain and shift instead into a whole new, non-cognitive, non-linear, right-brain way of “knowing,” receiving and processing information.
So, just let go and enjoy the ride! Allow yourself to enter into other realities--other dimensions, other paradigms, other ways of “knowing.” Let a whole new series of worlds open up to you—ones that the mystics and sages of old have been pointing to for millennia.
So, join me now on a magical, mystery tour into your Self and the world of Unconditional Love and Perennial Wisdom.
Ultimately, from my point of view, it all comes down to the following question:
What is my Purpose in this Life?
And, for me, at least, the answer to that question all boils down to learning how to Love, embrace, appreciate and accept myself, my experiences, others and the whole Universe unconditionally. My purpose in life is definitely not about acquiring, skills, power, possessions, positions, etc. It’s all about learning how to Love.
Of course, in the process of learning how to love unconditionally, you may, in fact, acquire some skills, power, possessions, positions, etc. But it’s not about any of these “things” that your life is really all about.
Actually, you don’t need any of the above “things” to learn how to love; poverty and misfortune can teach you the same lesson. You have your experiences simply and solely to help you, as quickly and permanently as possible, to learn how to love at higher and higher levels of purity and unconditionality.

This is Part I of a twelve part blog.
This next series of blog posts can be read on their own, though they are a continuation of a theme that I have been developing the past month or so. In order to get the full context for what follows you might want to go back and read my blog posts entitled: What Does it Mean to Have a “Personal” Relationship with God/Goddess? posted 04/16/07 and Who are You Really Talking to All Day Long and Why! The Art of Mindfulness, posted 04/30/07.
If we take the time to become aware of it, we discover that we are constantly having some kind of an internal dialogue going on in our minds. And as I wrote in my earlier blogs most of it is repetitious, boring and usually rather negative.
What I would like to share with you in this next series of blog posts is how one can channel this previously mostly wasted energy of negative mind drivel into something very wonderful, life transforming and enriching.
Instead of spending most your energies rehashing old, worn-out scenarios or dialogues in your mind, why not take that time and energy to consciously and intentionally develop a personal relationship with God/Goddess, your Higher Self and your Guides?
I realize that for some of you the above statement, in and of itself, may seem rather absurd. But I ask you to reserve judgment until you have both read through what I have to offer and tried what I suggest.
Yes, I understand that many believe that a personal relationship with God/Goddess is either unimportant or impossible, but until you have taken the time to try it out, please hold off judging the proposition. [See my previous blog posts referred to above for more about this.]
Also, many believe developing a relationship with our Guides is also rather preposterous-- that any such relationship is basically a projection and not real. Well, that’s what I thought about it at one point, but as time went on, I began to develop a very real connection and communion with an incredible group of energies that was more “real” than real. I have no doubt that what I presently experience is not projection. It is very, very real.
As well, for me the concept of connecting with my Higher Self had also been one that was, initially, quite hard to grasp. It all felt so amorphous, ethereal and hard to believe, but, in time, I was able to learn how to shift into an awareness that allowed me to “hear” and “listen” to my Self, that is my Higher Self. And, boy, oh boy, it has been such a blessing and wellspring of incredible comfort, guidance and wisdom since then.

So, from my point of view, we are literally meant to “whistle a happy tune” and that happy tune then creates our reality. We can, if we wish, let go of the past and focus instead on the present. We can look for the good in situations and for the beauty in the present moment and let of go of old negative fixations. We can trust that the future is a peaceful, positive place that we are heading towards rather than a fearful void of unknown disasters.
We get to choose all of this! We really do!
So, be very mindful about who and what you invite into your internal dialogues. It has a profound impact on your life. When you invite anger, you experience anger; when you invite fear, you experience fear; when you invite worry, you experience worry. On the other hand, when you invite joy, you experience joy; when you invite peace, you experience peace; when you invite love, you experience love.
The kind of thoughts you choose are no different from the kind of friends you choose in your life. Who you hang out with, determines who you bring home with you. And who you bring home with you, determines the quality of your life.
So, choose your thoughts consciously and wisely. Choose who you speak with internally very carefully. Ask yourself why you are having these thoughts. This is so important because if you chose poor thoughts, you create poverty and live down in the dumps; but if you choose lofty thoughts, you create a life of freedom, joy and love and live a regal life.
So, choose very carefully who you are talking to throughout your day; your life depends on it.
In my next series of blog posts, I will offer suggestions about what I believe is the best kind of internal dialogue to have.
Rather than talking to all these disparate voices, instead why not talk to God/Goddess, your Higher Self or your Guides on a consistent basis? You’d be amazed at how different your life will become and how much more in touch with who you really are you will become when you do this. As well, you will discover a very profound place of peace, love and contentment.

So, it is rather amazing to realize how much of what we think about in the present is just a rehash of what we have been thinking about in the past. And it usually is at best boring, if not down-right negative. It’s no wonder that nothing ever changes in our lives! It’s no wonder that life is rather mundane and tedious!
An interesting fact about all this is that modern science has come to understand that every thought we have is also connected to an emotion. And these thoughts/emotions that we are having trigger “pictures in our minds.” And these “pictures in our minds” are experienced by us as very “real” both psychologically and physiologically.
Whatever we are thinking about creates these “pictures in our minds.” Whether what we are thinking about is actually something that we are physically experiencing in the moment or whether it is a fanciful projection into the future or the rehashing of the past--all of this is experienced by us as “real.”
Our subconscious does not distinguish between what is actually happening to us and what we are imagining is happening to us.
So, our reality is purely, totally shaped by what we choose to focus our minds/emotions on—period!
That’s why it is so important to pay close attention to your thoughts because once launched, they gather momentum and shape the experiences you are having.
So, minimizing most of the internal dialogue, especially the negative stuff, releases you from the clutches of a downward spiral of thinking. If you allow yourself to get into these downward spirals, you create both a negative emotional experience and a negative physical experience for yourself.
Science has discovered that we release the same hormones and have the same muscular contractions in our body when we are actually experiencing an event and also when we are “just” imagining it!
So, why not focus on all the good around us so that that we can then experience that same good within us?

It is rather interesting to note how busy and active our minds are! It is amazing how much energy we expend towards “thinking” all the time. And it is amazing how much of that “thinking” is either takes us into the past or projects us into the future.
So, little of it is focused on what is happening in the here and now! So little of it pays any attention to what is in front of us at the moment. So little of it gives us the opportunity to “stop and smell the roses” or to appreciate the sunset or receive a smile or look into a child’s wondrous eyes.
It’s usually all a pile of mind drivel that we place our attention on—really rather boring and monotonous stuff. We become so self-absorbed in little meaningless, repetitious dramas that drain and distract us from what is happening in the present moment!
We have often heard it said that children have a very short attention span. That may be true, but I have observed that most adults have even shorter ones. Their minds are constantly jumping around from one thought or scenario to another. The Hindus call it “the drunken monkey mind.” It is really an incredible waste of energy and quite something to observe in action!
But why? Why do we get stuck in these quagmires of the mind? Why do we race around in our minds, but ultimately end up going nowhere? Why do we walk down the same street each day and fall into the same old hole? Why do we repeat the same old experiences and wonder why life is so meaningless? Why? Have you stopped to ask yourself why? Or do you think this is just the way it is?
Actually, all it is--is a habit! Albeit, a bad habit, but it’s all just a habit. And habits can be changed, if they are first identified, that is made conscious, and then they can gradually be changed.

Who are you really talking to all day long and why? Have you ever stopped to ask yourself this question? Have you ever stopped long enough to listen in—to be mindful?
Have you slowed down enough to realize that almost always there is an internal dialogue or monologue going on within you? And if you have slowed down enough to listen to this dialogue, you have come to realize that you are in fact talking to someone, so to speak.
You are either talking to yourself or to someone else. And, if you are talking to yourself, you are either being self-critical or appreciating yourself. Actually most of our internal dialogue is about us. And unfortunately, most of it is negative.
Or, if you are not talking to yourself, you are having a “fantasy” dialogue with someone else, whether it is your partner, your child, your dog or cat, a character in a novel you are currently reading, your mother-in-law, a parent, a friend, an “enemy,” a commentator on TV, a political figure you agree or disagree with, your neighbor next door, an old friend, someone you want to meet, a celebrity, a TV character, etc. The list is rather endless and rather amusing when you look at it.
Or, if you are not having a dialogue with one of these or a million other characters, perhaps you are rehashing or reliving a past experience, be it a good one or a “bad” one. Or perhaps you are imagining a future dialogue or a meeting with someone or anticipating a situation that you know will be coming up.
Just take the time a couple of times during the day to slow down and take note of what you are thinking about. I do not mean when you are in the midst of accomplishing a task, but I suggest you do this when you are idle or alone. What you discover will amaze you. The amount of banal repetition will, as well.

We were never meant to “wing it” on our own. We were meant to fly in a beautiful, harmonious formation together with God/Goddess and others. And this support, strength and clarity is there for the asking and it is very, very real.
But you must first let go of your belief that it is not possible or perhaps not necessary or not cool or in vogue nowadays to develop this personal relationship with God/Goddess. I am not referring to a relationship that relies on someone else’s rigid understanding of how you should do it. But on one that relies totally on the unique way you choose to do it!
For without a strong, personal sense of connection or communion with God/Goddess you will find yourself always “looking for love in all the wrong places.” As well, you are more than likely to be pursuing goals that are not really for your Highest Good. Also, they are likely to be goals that do not best express the essence and the gifts of who you are.
But you no longer need to look or wander aimlessly. The Way is there. Just look within. It is all an “inside job.”
It is really all about coming to “Know your Self.” For when you come to “Know Thy Self, you come to know God/Goddess.
When you look within, you are looking at a mirror that is simply reflecting You back to you. And then you begin to realize that you have been talking to your Self all the time. That You and God/Goddess are One!
You begin to realize that what is possible for you is truly infinite. You realize that the potential of the whole Universe has now opened up for you. And like a child you now begin to live each day in awe of the wonder and beauty of it all and you now really trust and know that all is well.
So, creating a personal relationship with God/Goddess is what it is all about. It is the real purpose of your life, of everyone’s!
“You must be a child to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”
NB Please do think about what you have just read, just “feel” it; don’t think it and you then will “know” if it resonates with you.
This is Part IV of a four part blog.
This is Part III of a four part blog. Please see my blog entry of 04/18/07 for Part II.
So, if you want a real relationship with God/Goddess, you must develop one on your own by talking to God/Goddess daily—moment to moment even.
This is what I believe St. Paul meant when he said: “Be joyful always. Pray continuously. Give thanks in all circumstances.” With this attitude and in this way, you gradually develop your connection and relationship with God/Goddess. As in any good relationship, it takes time and consistency for it to really gel. But when it does, it is so, so special. And it is so unique and eternal!
Yes, you can ask others how they do it and follow some of their techniques, but ultimately, you have to figure out what works best for you and what your style is. You need to claim the uniqueness of who you are. And you need to truly feel a sense of connection, confidence and communion with who you really are and then you can claim your own distinctive relationship with God/Goddess.
And it is so, so important to understand that this is not just another relationship. This is the ultimate relationship of all your relationships. This is “the big Kahuna,” so to speak.
Your sense of Self, stability, love and strength all lie in your ability to develop this relationship. Without it you are lost and will feel alone. Without it you will try to fill up the voids that you feel within yourself with all kinds of dysfunctional behaviors and experiences. But you will get nowhere.
Without it you will try to get things done or accomplished in your life or make changes in yourself emotionally or physically, but will eventually find your self up against a wall, frustrated and confused that nothing seems to be working.
It is at this point that you finally realize that you were never meant to do it on your own. But that there is a profound wellspring of Love and support that is there waiting, patiently and lovingly, for you to ask for help, support and strength. And when you ask, It always responds. And all that is left for you to do after you have asked is to really listen and to pay attention to the response you get and then trust and act on the inspirations and insights that you receive.

So, if you want a real relationship with God/Goddess, you must develop one on your own by talking to God/Goddess daily—moment to moment even. And when I say here, “talk to God/Goddess,” I mean just that.
You actually talk to God/Goddess as you would to a real friend or a loved one. In time you learn how to communicate—that is, to be heard and to really listen. In time you really develop an ongoing, enriching conversation and interaction, albeit somewhat different than the kind you would have with another person. [In a future blog post I will say more about the kind of relationship you can develop.]
You’ll be amazed to discover what you learn about your Self and the world you live in when you develop a personal relationship with God/Goddess. By being in constant communion with God/Goddess, the most incredible gift you receive is the ability to see everyone and everything through the eyes and heart of God/Goddess.
This way of seeing is a completely different experience from your common way of perceiving things which is one that is limited by the narrow-minded filters and fears of your belief systems. Having this direct relationship opens you up to a whole new world. You get to see everything in a totally new light.
As well, by developing this personal relationship you become like God/Goddess. You become more and more fashioned in His/Her Image. You rise above your human, imperfect emotions, identifications and interpretations and instead see clearly and with the eyes of Love. You learn to accept and appreciate it all.
As well, rather than just relying on yourself to change or get things done in your life, you now begin to allow His/Her strength and Love to flow through you and that is when miracles can and do happen in your life. You learn that you are never alone and that together with God/Goddess everything is possible. You come to understand that on your own so little is really possible, but in partnership with God/Goddess all things are possible.
This is Part II of a four part blog. Part III will be posted on 04/23/07
This is Part I of a four part blog.
Well, a personal relationship with God/Goddess is just that—very “personal.” It is very unique and special. A personal relationship with God/Goddess is no different from any other relationship you might have with someone very close and dear to you.
In the most intimate and close of relationships—say that of a parent and a child--the mother of the child has a very different relationship with her child as compared to the relationship that the father has with the same child. So, too, the child has a very different relationship with each of his/her parents. As well, siblings have very different relationships with each other.
So, your relationship with God/Goddess is very, very special and very much a function of who “you” are. No two relationships with God/Goddess are ever or can ever be the same.
Also, (and this point is very important to understand) for the relationship to be a “real” one, it must be one that you, on your own, have directly with God/Goddess. No one else is listening in, no one else is involved. It is purely and privately your relationship—it is just between you and God/Goddess period!
There are rather antiquated and dysfunctional belief systems out there that suggest that you need an intermediary in order to have a relationship with God/Goddess. That simply is not true.
A parent wants to have a direct relationship with their offspring. So, too, does the child want to have a direct relationship with his/her parents. No intermediaries are necessary or wanted. Otherwise, it is not a relationship. It is not personal. It is not intimate. It will go nowhere.
Your relationship with God is literally like that of a child with his/her parents; it is not like the relationship of a mail room clerk with the CEO of a Fortune 500 company. It is personal, genuine, intimate and very satisfying.

How can you live your life not knowing who you ARE?
It is the most important question you can ask yourself. It is the most important quest you can embark on in your life. And it is precisely why you have incarnated this time.
Your purpose in coming forth in this dimension at this time is to come to truly, finally and completely “Know Thy Self.” To finally without a scintilla of a doubt know who you ARE so that you can embody and experience that “knowing” throughout the rest of your eternity.
In other words you have come forth this time to totally “get” this lesson and to then move on to greater and greater experiences and realizations of the Love of God/Goddess.
For each one of you the process of getting the answer to the question of “Who Am I?” will be different. So, there is no one way to find the answer nor is there the same answer for every one.
But as you ask the question, you begin to eliminate who you are not and then eventually you come to know who you are.
You will know that you are there, that is, that you have found the answer, when you have stopped asking the question. For there is no answer to the question of ´”Who AM I.” Actually, there is not even the question. There is just the profound experience of your Self as God/Goddess.
And when that “knowing” comes over you, you know you “know” who you are and why you are, but it no longer matters!
For now you have found your Self and all your questions have now turned into answers.
So, what was once a big “WHY” no longer matters. And the big “WHY” has now turned into a big “Y” that stands for and sees it all as one big “YES!”
So, seek ye first your Self and all will be added!
NB Please do think about what you have just read, just “feel” it; don’t think it and you then will “know” if it resonates with you.
This is Part II of a two part blog.
Becoming awakened is very simple. Just learn how to "be present" with your Self and this will allow you to be awakened to who you really are.
For this precisely is what awakening really is--knowing who you ARE in all your magnificence and splendor! "Being present" with your Self is the key that will help you to open the doors to the mystery and majesty of who you are.

In this series of blogs and podcasts, I will be focusing on the topic of Channeling. For five weeks I will post on my blog a transcription of a session I presented on this topic.
In order to make sense of all of this and to be able to best follow the flow, please start at Part I which begins with my blog entry on March 5, 2007.
So, what follows is a session of “channeling” that I did a number of years ago. Please note that the energies/beings that are being channeled refer to themselves as “we.”
What follows now is a transcription of a meditation that the group was lead in. I have chosen to include it here because I feel that just reading the words and sensing and feeling what they are pointing to can be very healing and enlightening and can help you to switch into a real sense of who you are. Please read it meditatively. This is part III of the meditation, the final part. EnJoy! Please go to my podcast of April 6, 2007 to be lead in the full meditation.
“Now we would ask you to come out of this natural spring, out of this whirlpool and find a rock or a grassy knoll to sun your self upon. Just get up and find the sunny spot and then just lie there and feel the warmth of the sun. Feel the embrace of the earth. Feel heaven and earth uniting within you.
For as creators, made in His/Her image, you bring together all of heaven and earth and within you is the potential to experience it all without separation or duality, but to just feel, to just feel the oneness of it all and your oneness with it all.
Feel yourself as the convergence of heaven, of earth, of spirit, of matter. Yes, a center. Each one of you is the center of God/Goddess. And the number of centers is infinite. Feel what that might mean. Not with your minds but with your hearts, remembering, remembering, remembering …
As you lie there now feeling your connection to All That Is, allow yourself to invite in any guides, angels, masters, mentors, ancestors, etc. that work with you known or unknown, seen or felt. Let this be very spontaneous!
Feel them taking care of you and embracing you. For they know you. They know you, for they have known you before you forgot you, and they are here to remind you of that real you. They are here to help you forget that which is not you.
Allow them to inspire, to impress you, to fill you to overflowing, as you continue your connection to All That Is, feeling the oneness, the wholeness. We leave you now to experience, to feel, to connect and we shall return briefly. Pause…
The goal this afternoon was to bring you to that place of connection so that your experience of it might be so solid, so clear, so rich and so full that you might never again forget. So that as you go forth in your life, no matter what circumstances may be there before you, you are in this place of connection and you know, without a doubt, that you always are held in the hands and the heart of God/Goddess and that all is in Divine Order and Divine Timing.
Start now to come out by gradually beginning to sense your physical body and the room that you are sitting in. And when you are ready you can begin to open your eyes, taking a few deep breaths to ground yourself and feeling more refreshed and more at peace than when we began. Again at your own pace you may open your eyes, more refreshed and more at peace than when we began.
This is part X and the conclusion of a 10 part blog and the final part of the three part meditation. Please go to my podcast of April 6, 2007 to be lead in the full meditation.

“Imagine that there is a whirlpool nearby, a natural spring. Bring yourself to this natural spring and allow yourself to just sit in this spring. You can sit in it and it doesn’t go above your head. It feels like a spa made especially for you and the water is the perfect temperature and is so refreshing, cleansing and healing for you.
You feel the whirling and the swirling of the energies of the water and it cleanses you. It washes away all the energetic debris you have accumulated. You allow yourself to just sink into this healing, into this connection. Again you are not separate from this water that you sit in nor are you separate from this natural environment. You are one with it. It is you, you are it. You see it in yourself and it reflects you back to you as you look at it.
Feel the energies, the waters massage your toes and rub the bottoms of the soles of your feet, cleansing you deeper and deeper. Feel the water now flowing up to your calves, your knees, your thighs, your hips.
Feel the cleansing energy and as this energy cleanses it brings to you the understanding we spoke of earlier of not being separate from but one with All That Is. Feel it flowing now into your torso, your abdomen (both the front and the back), your arms, your hands as it continues now to flow up to your neck.
If you wish just dunk your head into the water now and feel it caress and envelop your head and your hair. Now as you slowly take your head out of the water and shake your hair out, you feel golden rivulets of love and light all around you and within you.”

“So we ask you now to close your eyes and we will lead you in a meditation. We would like you now to integrate what we have spoken of. So, just begin to close you eyes and get comfortable, get comfortable within yourself. Take a couple of deep breathes to ground your self…
Open to receiving, imagine now your crown chakra, at the top of your head, opening as if it were a cup and let that cup be as large as you wish it to be. Feel it acting like a funnel for these energies so that you might be filled to overflowing with an understanding, a knowing, of who you really are. Feel the living waters, the living light flow into the top of your head and then gradually let it flow throughout your whole body all the way down to the bottoms of your feet…
Feel yourself now being filled with this energy and let it remind you that you are not separate from this energy, but that you are the Spirit of God/Goddess Her Self. Feel it enveloping you, feel it filling you…
Take another deep breath, and now we would like you to imagine that you are in the Garden of Eden, that you are in a pristine place of new beginnings, of connection, of holiness, of sacredness, of purity, of love.
Begin now to allow yourself to feel the embrace of the energies of the sun as you open to receiving its warmth, its light. Feel it warming every cell in your being. Feel it filling you inside and out…
As well, open up to the all the creatures large and small that you can see and those that you can’t see that are all around you…
As well, open to energies of the vegetation and the trees, to the sky, to the perfumed air.
Feel, sense your self not as separate from all these but as one with all these sensations, all these creatures, all these beings, all these energies. Not outside of you but inside of you - feeling, tasting, touching, sensing smelling, hearing, knowing, seeing. Your God/Goddess essence is everywhere. It is within and it is without; it is you, too.”

“Some of these individuals you know of historically, others have never been recorded in your history. As well, there are many who have attained this awareness, way before what you call your recorded history. And it is they, all of them, who work as a force to help you to remember what we speak of.
We, they, have been labeled the White Brotherhood by some and we laugh. As well, we have been labeled “Ascended Masters” or Buddha “this” or Krishna “that” or whatever name you have chosen to give us. We do not see our selves in that light. We do not give any one of us any more importance than another, nor do we see ourselves as more than you, for we are all made of the same “stuff” – of that God/Goddess substance.
And so, yes, we perhaps now “see” a little better than you do, but your blindness, your myopia now is but temporary and the potential, power and love we see within you is so, so real. It is what we already are experiencing within ourselves and what you can experience, too. So we ask you to just entertain what we have been offering this afternoon as a possibility. We ask you not think too much about it, but allow the energy or the essence of what has been said to just seep in.
You cannot grasp with your minds that which is of God/Goddess. You can’t even speak of God/Goddess with your minds. It is why it has been said your soul resides in your heart for it is there that the doorway is located to your God Self, to your Soul, to your true identity. Please learn to feel with your heart and not think so much with your minds. And then all that we have been saying will be crystal clear!”

“And so this whole process begins, as has been said by many teachers, by totally and completely loving Thy Self. What we have been describing up to this moment is precisely this, namely: How to love Thy Self.
God/Goddess does not see Her/Himself as separate from Him/Herself but adores all of Her Self. We ask you to completely adore, appreciate and accept yourself. And in that adoration, appreciation and acceptance you will then be able to see that same God/Goddess in others; and you, too, then as God/Goddess will be able to see in another your Self.
This is what unconditional love is all about. It is not a sappy, clingy, codependent state of bondage, but an appreciation, an acceptance and an adoration of all that one is, sees, and experiences. And, as well, it is an appreciation, an acceptance and an adoration of every one and every thing else.
You are not separate from anyone or anything. The sense of separation is simply a belief system you have taken on in third dimensional reality on this planet called Earth to learn and to grow through and with, but it is not ultimately true. For as we look at this world and it’s “problems,” and as we look at each one of you and your “problems,” clearly all of them stem from what we’ve been speaking about; namely, your lack of a sense of connection to the core or essence of “who” you really ARE.
So, it begins and ends with you understanding who you really are. Throughout your recorded history there have been a few individuals who have attained this understanding of who they really ARE. Actually “understanding” is a weak word that does not adequately describe what we mean. What might better describe what we mean is that there have been a few individuals who have attained this vibration of energy or awareness.”

“It’s okay to give a name to God/Goddess. And in many traditions there are many names for God/Goddess and in many of the traditions you recite the names of God/Goddess in order to help you feel connected. But please remember this, that each one of your names is a name/expression of God/Goddess. Each one of you is a finite expression of that which you call God/Goddess.
You come to events such as these so that you might find healing, so that you might find wholeness, so that you might find your true Selves. When you find your true Self, who you really are, that is how you find that healing, that wholeness, that salvation which you seek. You find it by finding who you really ARE.
It is not found by seeking the right remedy or a healing from someone else. It is not found by hearing the right word or the right teaching from someone else. It is not found in someone else, period! It is within you.
It is simply not true that someone else has an understanding or wisdom that you don’t have. When you interact with someone and have an insight; it is not their insight that you now have gained, but what is happening here is that you are now seeing reflected in them something that you had forgotten, but that now you are remembering about You. You are gaining you own insight into your Self and about your Self.
No one has more or knows more than you do. How could they? For if you allow yourself to tap into the essence of who you are, if you erase all the limiting images and beliefs of who you are from your memory bank, if you truly feel the essence of who you are, you come to know without a doubt that you are now whole, you are now healed. And you know that you know all the answers to all your questions! You now know Your Self and trust your Self. It doesn’t get any better than this! This is Self-Mastery! This is Awakening!”

“Many of you still believe that God/Goddess is somehow outside of you. You can believe or buy into that belief, so to speak, or you can buy into the belief that God/Goddess is inside of you. But for many of you, even after you have decided to accept that God/Goddess must be within you, still perceive this concept as if God/Goddess has somehow just left one kernel, one atom of HerSelf inside you, perhaps in your heart, and then somehow the rest of Her/Him is still outside of you somewhere.
No way! She/He is inside all of you, period!
Do not in any way diminish your value by believing that there is only this one little, itsy-bitsy kernel of God “stuff” inside of you and then there is all the rest of you that is separate from God/Goddess.
Take a moment and ask yourself: Who AM I? Are you separate from that which is All That Is? If you believe in that separateness, you then are, in fact, separate. But if you allow yourself to remember that you aren’t separate or less than, then you remember who you really are and that you are One.
And how can you remember? Let go of your ego. Let go of the limiting beliefs that you have bought into that you are only your body, your thoughts or your present experiences. These beliefs are really like a “death penalty.” But there is no “death.” You have “eternal life.” You are “eternal life.” You are made in His/Her image! Any belief other than that is simply misguided!
So, understand that God/Goddess is not inside you nor is God/Goddess outside you. God/Goddess is YOU.
You are God/Goddess in finite form who has taken on this present personality temporarily in order to learn how to further expand your ability to love.
When God/Goddess looks at you, She sees you as Her Self. You are a mirror, a reflection of Her to Her. When you see yourself who do you see, a name or a personality Linda or Jen or Jill or Mike? Or do you see God/Goddess? Who do you see?”

“What is so important to understand here is that most of you do not understand that YOU are God/Goddess. You temporarily and incorrectly see yourself as a third dimensional being with limitations, living on this planet called Earth in this lifetime, and only identify with this particular lifetime and personality. But you don’t even remember, least of all acknowledge, most of the lifetimes you’ve lived. You are a very old soul, a very wise soul, a soul with enormous resources available to you, if you but allow your ego’s interpretation of you to just drop away. Once you do, you will remember! You will truly know! Everyone is like this!
Perhaps all you focus on now and remember are your limitations and failures. Too many of you look for what is wrong with you. You define your life in a very narrow way and you see yourself as a finite, limited being. Every once in a while another image or feeling of a much higher vibration flows into you about you. Every once in a while you remember that you are so much more than just the experiences your ego is having!
But who you are now in the present is an “out picturing” of who you believe you are. And when you remember and know and understand that God/Goddess is You and not just within you, but really, really is you, then you can begin to open to that “channeling” that we spoke of before. Then you will allow for true “inspiration” to flow to you and through you!
You then become that channel, that finite expression of Godness and of wholeness and of fullness. This is what “true channeling” is all about. It is not about channeling another being outside of you, but it is a process of connecting with the God/Goddess essence or core of who you are and letting it all flow to you and through you.”

“As well, one can channel with one’s eyes wide open while speaking in their normal voice and it is still channeling. [I have had this happen many, many times for myself. It is a situation in which I don’t have any idea what I’m saying. I have not preplanned a word of what I am speaking about. Just a series of images, impressions, thoughts and feelings keep coming up that inspire me as to what to say one moment to the next. While this is going on, I actually find myself listening to my words and internally saying to myself, “Hey that makes sense. I like that!” While this is happening my eyes are open and it looks like I am having a normal dialogue or conversation, but I am not.]
And so this is also a part of the phenomenon called channeling. Why we are making such a point of this now is because it is so, so important for you to realize that: You all “channel” in some form or another at different times and in many different ways. You have all had moments in “the zone” or moments of pure clarity, insight, foreknowing or inspiration. You have all been inspired in some form or another.
You may have chosen to ignore the inspiration and go against it because it wasn’t in your belief system to trust it. Or you may have been clueless that you were in fact being inspired and somehow thought that the bulk of what you were feeling and saying was coming from your own ego mind.
But the whole point of this discussion is not to get you to become a “medium” who “channels” some “other” ethereal being, but the point here is for you to get in touch with the core of who you really are and “channel” your Self or your Higher Self. No, not your ego’s little self, but your God(dess) Self that is at your core and that is definitely at the core of everyone. So, the whole point here is to help you to learn how to connect with and to channel and embody the Spirit of the God/Goddess that is within you.”
This is Part II of a 10 part blog. To be continued on 03/12/07
In my next series of blogs and podcasts, I will be focusing on the topic of Channeling. Over the next five weeks I will post on my blog a transcription of a session I presented on this topic.
So, what follows is a session of “channeling” that I did a number of years ago. Please note that the energies/beings that are being channeled refer to themselves as “we.”
“In modern times there are people who have been labeled as mediums or psychics. We have always been uncomfortable with these labels because they imply that the person channeling is somehow better than everyone else or special in some unique or other worldly way. They are not! Everyone can “channel.” As well, we are uncomfortable with the word “channeling” itself because it implies that there is some other being taking the speaker over.
Now to clarify what we are saying, when someone is channeling it doesn’t mean that there aren’t other energies that are present and supporting the process of “inspiring” you while you channel. There certainly are, whether you call them The Holy Spirit, the Buddhist Spirit, the Hindu Spirit, the Muslim Spirit, Aunt Fran, Uncle Al----whatever--- it doesn’t matter what you call them.
But what really is happening during the process of channeling is that one is being filled with inspiration. For your information, “inspire” comes from the Latin word that means “to be filled with spirit.” What channeling, from our point of view is all about, is being “inspired;” that is, it is about being filled with the spirit. But what spirit?
You all have guides, mentors, masters, angels, ancestors, etc. that are with you all the time. They are there to protect and inspire you. They were there with you at “the get go” and “the get go,” by the way, started way before you showed up on this planet. In other words, they have been with you for a very, very, very long time. They have been with you from the beginning, from your beginning.
As you are probably aware, there are different forms or kinds of channeling. For instance, while channeling some mediums’ voices change dramatically, their eyes stay closed and all kinds of spiritual phenomena occur while they are speaking. The Spiritualist Churches practice this kind of mediumship”

Be assured that if you follow anyone other than your Self, you will surely get lost.
Take the time to really “listen” to your Self and all will become crystal clear.
Below are a few phrases that will help you to keep your focus clear in this regard:
God/Goddess loves you no matter what because in doing so, He/She loves Him/Herself.
Don’t take your life’s experiences personally, these experiences are not who you ARE! They are just steps on your path to Awakening! You ARE so much more!
Hang in there! You CAN do it! And actually you ARE doing it!
Trust the process and Trust your Self!
Fear is the ultimate illusion. Empowerment the ultimate truth!
It’s all a series of conclusions about a series of delusions.
When you appreciate something, you allow yourself to fully receive it!
Rather than “making the best of it,” “make it the best!”
Love is being unconditionally present for yourself and another!
Make your Life a Meditation, not a Race; Proceed at the Speed of Grace and Trust.
In conclusion I would like to share a channeled passage from Kryon:
There seems to be so much sorrow on the planet. Can you work within the framework of the test before you? Can you put on your armor and shields of sacredness and walk through the sorrow, fear and disappointment of what other Humans have done, without
judgment of them or without being discouraged? The more light you carry, the more you will see that which is sorrowful on Earth. Only the masters can "see" these things as reasonable within the scheme of why you're here. It is important that the Lighthouses are not distracted by the storms as they shine their lights. Otherwise, they become useless.
So, it is so, so important to not let your ego determine the perspective you have on the experiences you or others are having.
Please remember to go into meditation regularly and quiet your mind and open your heart so that you might allow the wisdom, love and light of your Higher Self to illuminate and reveal the path before you!
May you dwell Peace!
The gift that suffering bestows upon us is that it teaches us how to become Masters of Love!

So, when you can unconditionally accept everything and everyone, you have learned the ultimate lesson of what Love is all about. It is in this state of acceptance that the illusions of lack, insufficiency, fear, and inadequacy all disappear and the reality of your beauty, majesty, wisdom, power and eternal value become very clear and bright.
All that you previously interpreted with your ego’s eyes as failure and “suffering” is now seen as just steps leadings you out of the illusion of your separateness and aloneness and instead into the realms of Oneness, Light and Love that your Higher Self or Soul dwells in eternally.
Even the Awakened One, the Buddha, proclaimed:
But once all this “suffering” is seen as the illusion that it really is, then the true Light of who you really are finally awakens within you and then you can own, know, integrate and embody it in a way that it becomes you and you become IT.
So, let go of your ego’s desire to have things always go your way, i.e. the way you “think” they should.
Let go of the need to hold onto things that are already as you desire so they will continue to be what you want. Believe me, they never will remain the same. The only constant in this universe is “change.”
Let go of trying to control others, you never will!
Let go of your fears, projections and defenses.
Let go of the need to make others wrong or right or to judge them.
Just dwell in the Light of your Soul by sitting in meditation and all will be revealed to you! “Be still and know!” Listen to the “still, small voice within!” It will lead you to your Self.

Love is not an emotion; it is a state of being. It is a state of acceptance and profound understanding. It sees all experiences with the heart of unconditionality and it knows that all is in Divine Order and that all is moving towards the Highest Good.
Love from the ego has emotions attached. Love from the soul, does not. That's what it's all about: learning how to develop the "detached," "impersonal," and "open" heart. The heart and mind that are free from the fears, illusions and false beliefs that distort reality.
Many equate the word love with the human emotion that many mistake as and for love. Unconditional Love is a state of being and not an emotion. It is a stable, harmonious and balanced state through which there can be no judgment, no fear, no indecision, and no uncertainty. It is a pure state of acceptance, trust and knowing.
This state of love is not a denial of reality, but rather an acceptance and true appreciation of it! It is an understanding that all of life is an eternal journey into a greater and greater ability to love, appreciate and embrace more and more of one’s experiences!

Our purpose here on this planet is not to acquire information and “things,” but to learn how to really love. And so when we are at our lowest and yet are still able to reach up to love and reach out for love, we then truly will have mastered what Love is all about. For by reaching out for love, we shed light into the darkness. We turn chaos into order. We transform lead into gold. We truly tap into the essence of love and become the Master Alchemist! We turn all our “suffering” or our illusions into gold!
If in the depths of despair you seek Love’s guidance and surrender fully to its tender embrace, then truly you have learned what it means to have “Love” and that knowing will remain with you and continue to grow within you throughout eternity. But if, on the other hand, you just make love an intellectual exercise, you learn nothing about love and are left empty and unfulfilled.
So, when your body is not functioning well, but you can still love it, you have learned what it means to love unconditionally.
So, when your best friend or lover has left you and yet you can still love yourself, you have learned how to truly love yourself.
So, when you financial situation has bottomed out, but you can still appreciate the wonder and beauty of life and of yourself and still know that you are good and can thrive, you have learned what it means to love.
And when another has harmed you and you can still love them and yourself, truly you have learned what love is.

We create our reality. Everything that “happens to us” is part of a master plan or blueprint that is helping us to “become,” grow and heal in ways that will truly allow us to develop and manifest all the potential within us. Truly, all is in Divine Order and Divine Timing and as we learn to look at our experiences through the eyes and heart of our Soul and not through the myopic vision of our ego, we get to see the bigger picture and put it all into proper context and perspective.
It is our Soul that is leading us into the experiences that It knows will help us to truly come to know who we really are in the quickest and, believe it or not, the least painful way possible. Whether we presently get it or not, what looks, to our ego, like a long and torturous path, is really the shortest route to a true understanding and picture of who we really are.
Seeing our experiences through our Soul’s perspective will lead us away from where our limited awareness is presently focused to an unlimited, eternal and infinite vision of who we really are and will put into perspective why we are experiencing what we are experiencing.
So, it is those who have experienced the greatest sense of loss and suffering in their lives who have risen to the greatest heights and depths of wisdom and love.
This is Part II of a six part blog entry.
This is Part I of a six part blog,
The gift that suffering bestows upon us is that it teaches us how to become Masters of Love!
That which we call “suffering” is an experience we create for ourselves so that we can refine or increase our ability to love ourselves, love another and love the whole of the creation. When we “suffer” we ultimately feel abandoned and alone. As well, we feel that we are unworthy and unlovable. But all of this is just the ultimate illusion, an illusion that has us believing that we are somehow separate from God/Goddess and somehow undeserving of His/Her love.
We are meant to have dominion over all the creation. But that dominion is not one of “possession,” but it is a dominion of love. It is the dominion of one who is the caretaker and caregiver. It is not a dominion of “the hording of things,” but it is a stewardship of caring for all. And the way that we earn that dominion is to be more and more able to love, appreciate and embrace it all.
But how does one learn to “love/appreciate” it all.
Most of us believe that suffering is something that is inflicted upon us by an outside force. Whether it is illness, financial ruin, relationship issues, natural or human-made disasters, etc., we see ourselves as a “victim” of circumstances.
The problem with this way of looking at the experiences you are having is that by seeing yourself as a “victim,” you are giving away your ownership of the situation and are therefore, giving away your “power” to change it.

It wasn’t until I realized that “I was looking for love in all the wrong places” that I began to look within. It finally dawned on me that by not looking within I was not allowing myself to come to know who I truly was (am) at the core. I did not know how to go within and be present with the bedrock of who I really was and to stand on that foundation and not stand on the shifting sands of my temporary ego-based personality.
By going within I finally began to identify with that part of me that is eternal and true, i.e. my Soul or my Higher Self. My Soul knows my inherent goodness and value. All I ever need to do is to touch in with its understanding of who I am and then I am whole.
In other words, I finally began to know what it meant to have Self confidence (that is confidence in my Higher Self or Soul) and not be concerned about developing confidence in my little self, that part of me that only wants to be validated by another and wants to feel control over its circumstances.
As Rainier Maria Rilke wrote, “How deep is the reservoir from which your life flows?”
We are so much more than our current personality. As we learn “to be present” with our Higher Selves/Soul, we will come to know who we really are and then we will totally and completely love and embrace ourselves. This will then bring a “peace that passeth all understanding” to us.
Then we will know how majestic and astounding we really are. We will realize how great a blessing it is to be in our own “Presence.”
This is Part II of a two part blog entry.
This is Part I of a two part blog. See my next blog post of 12/06/06 for Part II.
What does it mean to love oneself or another person? As I have journeyed through my life, I have come to the following understanding of what it means to truly love:
But what does it mean “to be present for yourself,” to just be there for yourself?
As far as I am concerned, you are your most “significant other.” So, in order to love yourself, you must be fully present for yourself. You must be “listening” to your self. You must be honoring yourself. You must be accepting and appreciating yourself unconditionally. This is love: “Being totally present for your self” with no judgments, no analysis, no preconceived beliefs, concepts or ideas of what you “should” be or do.
Giving this kind of love and presence to yourself, whether someone else is “present” for you or not, is the key to Self-mastery and happiness; it is actually “the key” to life. “Being present,” in this way, I believe, is the answer to the perennial question of “How do I love myself or another person?”
As for myself, I know that in the past I did not think that it was possible to love myself. I did not appreciate or understand my value. All I ever did was look at what was “wrong” with me and judge and reject myself. So, all I was doing was playing an old script of “I am not good enough” and “I am not worthy.” I had adopted a false belief system about myself.
As well, I was always looking for validation outside myself. I was looking for others to affirm me. I was “looking for love in all the wrong places,” so to speak.
I had no idea how majestic and miraculous a being I really was. I did not know how to be in my own “Presence.”

It is in meditation where you can connect with the essence of your object of attention. It is in meditation where you can eavesdrop on your Self and on the God/Goddess within. It is in meditation where you can come to truly “Know ThySelf.” Why not learn how to experience this sweet ambrosia of the gods? Why not learn how to experience your “Godness?”
Lastly, this lovely sentence from “The Cloud of Unknowing” an anonymous medieval spiritual classic, sums it all up so beautifully:
So, learning how to still the mind through meditation helps one to learn how to truly listen to one Self and to another. It is in meditation that we access the essence and the heart of the matter, instead of getting all caught up in our heads and in the illusory surface appearance of things.
It is in meditation that we “see things clearly” and come to “know” ourselves and another.

That may be the most holy, the most sacred—may be. You cannot give it a name. It is perhaps the unnamable. And when there is that, then there is intelligence and compassion, and love. So life is not fragmented. It is a whole, unitary process, moving and living.”
It is in this state of being that Krisnamurti describes above where one can be present and listening. It is a profound state of unity with one’s object of attention; and it is a profound state of the heart.

There are seven kinds or aspects to “Listening:”
1) “Listening” to another.”
2) “Listening” to nature.
3) “Listening” to Spirit.
4) “Listening” to your physical body.
5) “Listening” to that part of us called the little self or the ego? That part that we often do not want to own or acknowledge, that we often wish to disinherit, despite the fact that it is has some very valuable things to say to us.
6) “Listening” to our Higher Selves.
7) “Listening” to the God/Goddess within.
All these aspects of Listening require the same skill, namely learning how to be quiet. Listening actually is not a cognitive process, it is not something we do with our minds; but something we allow or open up to with our hearts.
Listening is a receptive, open, allowing, feminine state; it is not an assertive, active, masculine state. When the mind is quiet, the heart can be open; and then it can “hear;” and then, as well, it can lead the way. The mind is meant to be the servant of the heart. The heart is meant to lead.
Don’t analyze anyone or anything. When you do, you are using your mind and creating separation by judging, analyzing and compartmentalizing. Instead feel first.
Don’t listen to words, instead feel their energy.
Don’t judge a person; get a “feel: for them first.
Don’t measure anything; just “feel” its energy.
Use your heart first and then let the mind help you integrate what the heart has felt. Feel first, think last! Then you will “know.”
Stop thinking and start feeling! Leave your mind behind and put your heart first!
No longer think your way through life; feel your way through life.
Listening is a communion—a joining or merging with. It is not analysis or judgment.
This is part II of a four part blog. Please see my next blog entry on November 6 for part III.
This is part I of a four part blog.
In order to come to “Know Thy Self,” one first must learn how to “Listen.” For it is only by really knowing how to “Listen” that one can get “a handle one’s ‘Self.’” And it is only through “Listening” that we can be true to our Selves and live an empowered, passionate, fulfilled, joyful life.
Usually all we hear or listen to is the noise and static that our fearful, angry, worried ego mind produces; this noise effectively blocks out our ability to hear what is really important, what is at the core of who we are.
It is only by learning how to embrace the Silence, that we can hear anything important. It is only by being quiet that you can “hear” your Self, “hear” another, “hear” nature, “hear” Spirit, and “hear” the God/Goddess within. One must quiet the fretful ego mind in order to hear one Self and come to “know” one Self.
Silence is the language of God. Everything else is bad translation.
Silence is ancient. Silence has been in the space you are this very moment for longer than anything else. It will remain after you leave and exist long after all other things have faded.

This is Part VI of a six part series. See my five previous blog entries on September 11, 13, 18, 20, and 25 for Parts I, II, III, IV & V.
Too often when we interact with others, we are not listening, we are not silent. So, we get caught up in an ego draining interaction, or we get caught up in our own fears and we miss the opportunity to commune on a heart to heart level. We walk away feeling drained instead of being uplifted.
What also happens is that some people often initiate an interaction because they need energy. They are in the interaction solely for the purpose of drawing in energy from someone. I call these kinds of people “parasites.” Not a very nice way to describe someone, yet we all do it at times. And we all have certainly experienced feeling totally drained after a conversation.
If you are not at first quiet and listening silently, you will not know what is going on energetically in an interaction. You will not know that you are about to be drained in a major way. But if you are silent and really listening, you will realize whether an interaction is for your Highest Good or not. You will know whether the interaction is an enmeshed and entangled one and whether a stagnated, mutated energy is flowing forth from that individual or not. This is not meant to be a judgment of that individual, but it is just an objective appraisal of the energies.
At this point you can make a decision about whether you want to continue to engage in this interaction or not. If you are really listening, then you can really hear where the interaction is going energetically. You then can make a choice to be with that person’s energy or choose not to be with their energy. It is within the silence that you can know what they are really saying, what their real fear is, and what their real issue is or what their real passion is. Often what someone is saying out loud has nothing to do with what is really going on within them.
If what they are saying is energetically off and you are conscious of it, then you can offer them a compliment or a comment that comes from your heart that makes them stop and take notice. Then, if you have said the right thing, all of a sudden, it is as if the spirit that possessed them is gone and now you find yourself in an uplifting interchange.
What is most important here is that you did not take that energy into yourself and get engaged in a whole sequence of negativity and then wonder why afterwards you felt so awful? But if you are not really “listening” from within, you are not going to realize whose presence you are in or what kind of energies you are in and you will wonder how this all happened to you.
So, then, how does one listen? You listen by being silent!

I soon began to realize that it was so much more enjoyable being with those who were present and listening. Those who were constantly talking about how great they were or how brilliant their intellectual theories were, got rather boring; and, interestingly, those same people never asked me a question about myself. I did not exist on some level other than as a sounding board.
But it was these “laughing Buddha” types who would not only ask me about me, but they would “listen.” I just felt embraced by them. I felt “one” with them.
Even though it was 1985 when I left this job, still to this day, there are two dozen or so of these “laughing Buddhas” I still communicate with. [By the way, many of these people were Westerners!]
I really learned through all this that it was so important for me to be silent in order to really be listening. It did not matter what the issue was or whether I was in a planning meeting discussing practical things, having dinner, or just hanging out. In order to hear, I had to be still and listen quietly. It was only by doing this that I was able to hear and respond from a place of connection.
It was not that I did not speak up at times, I did; but I learned not to talk a lot in these settings. I chose to listen. I learned to just be present and just witness what was going on. I learned to go beyond words and appearances and sense the “essence” of the interchange.
I listened in the silence and to the silence, not only to my own silence, but also to the silence between their words. And it was there that I got to “know” them. It was there where I got to know who they really were and what they were really saying.
It was from this place where I could make a comment that could move the discussion into an area that was more productive; or I could sense that the interaction was going nowhere and I knew that it was time for me to excuse myself. I was not judging them, but I could sense when their energies did not match mine. I learned not to “lean into” conversations or situations where I did not belong and which did not serve my Highest Good or the Highest Good of all concerned.

Here I was thirty years old and the “head honcho” of the whole enterprise while the participants were at least in their early 40’s and went all the way up to their 80’s. Also, most of them were rather eminent in their communities or internationally. So, my position as their junior was clearly to serve them all. I had to make sure that the organizational aspects of the event went smoothly and that they were all well cared for. In addition, I had to make sure that the topics that we chose had thematic coherence and that it all came together smoothly. I learned an enormous amount doing this.
One of the most important things I learned was that I had to be “listening” all the time. I had to be a “good listener.” Whether I was running a large meeting or just a small planning meeting; I had to be listening. I had to be listening, too, to mundane complaints such as someone’s room was too small or perhaps the glass of water was not placed correctly on the podium, I had to always be listening.
So, given my age and the position I was in; I had to listen. All I did was “listen.” As well, when I wasn’t at an actual conference or formal meeting, I was meeting with people at my office or talking on the phone all the time. When I was at an event, we would have breakfast, lunch, and dinner meetings. When we were on the beach on Maui; I was in meetings. At six in the morning, I was in meetings. At 11 at night, I was in meetings: Listen, Listen, and Listening.
As time went on I began to see that there were three kinds of people that I was listening to. First, there were the “holier than thou eminences,” as I called them. When they talked about the paper they wrote, or their tradition, or themselves, it was all ego; it was all “look at how great I am”.
The second group of people was incredibly brilliant intellectually and had wonderful things to say, but they were only interesting up to a point. After awhile what they were talking about would give me a bad headache or a severe case of mental diarrhea. They were so caught up in their heads.
Lastly there were the Buddhist monks and other wonderful souls like them who came to these events simply to enjoy themselves and to enjoy the company of others. They just laughed and smiled and greeted you warmly all the time. They were there just to enjoy, to listen, to learn, to just be present.

Listening to another is a skill that so few have.
So, what does it mean to “listen” to another? I have found that most us most of time, myself included, are in a place of self-absorption. Therefore, we are not listening. We are so caught up in projecting a certain impression about ourselves or getting our point across or being heard or being “right” that we pay almost no attention to the person right there in front of us.
Listening can not occur when the mind is preoccupied. “Listening” can only occur in the silence and receptivity of the heart. It can only occur when the little self, the ego, the self-absorbed part of us is silent.
What often happens, too, is that we are so full of “hubris” or false pride that we just want to hear ourselves talk and we are not interested in what another has to say. We are not there to listen, we are only there to make another see or hear us. This happens because we have a lack of real Self-confidence, that is, we lack confidence in our Higher Self and lack an understanding of what our Higher Self is and who we really are; and are, instead, trying to build up our little self’s self-confidence, that is, our ego’s delusion of confidence or personal superiority.
By doing this we just keep putting up one barrier of separation after the other. Eventually, it becomes very difficult to bring these walls of separation down in our relationships.
For myself, I really got to understand this when I was about thirty years old. At that time I became the Executive Director of an organization that planned ecumenical, inter-faith conferences all around the world. The people that attended the conferences were academics in religion and philosophy as well as religious leaders from all over the world. Many very fascinating people attended from all walks of life.
Some of the conferences were as large as 1,000 and some of the events were small groups of twelve to twenty attendees. I did this for about seven years and literally went around the world numerous times doing it.

There is the event in the Judeo-Christian tradition called “The Fall.” From my point of view that event describes the time when we as a race chose to stop “listening” with our hearts and, instead, began to judge with our minds. We ate of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, that is, we entered the world of judgment, analysis and separation.
We no longer experienced life from within, but, instead, we experienced it as “other” than us or outside us. We started judging and analyzing instead of feeling and that created the sense of separation that we feel from each other, nature, Spirit, our Higher Selves and from God/Goddess. This is what cast us out of the Garden of Eden.
Vine Deloria, PhD, a Native American scholar so aptly wrote in this regard:
“For primitive people the presence of energy and power is the starting point of their analysis and understanding of the natural world...primitive people felt power, but did not measure it. Today we are able to measure power, but do not feel it.”
Rene Dubos, celebrated microbiologist and author wrote:
“Sometimes the more measurable, drives out the most important.”
In another vein, Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote:
“Earth is crammed with Heaven, if we but listen.”
Heaven is everywhere and in everyone. Each one of us and everything that we could possibly interact with is simply an entryway, a portal to our Higher Selves and to the God/Goddess within if we could “listen” to it, if we could “see” it. Everyone is an opening to your Higher Self, even your enemies, even your tormentors. If we could learn again to “listen,” we all could reenter that Garden.

This is Part I of a six part series of blog posts.
Listening is the most important skill that one can develop; but it is not a cognitive function as most believe. It is a function of the heart.
Listening is not an active, assertive state. It is not a state that judges, understands, or analyzes. It is simply a state of “being,” a state of silence, a state of openness, receptivity, and allowing. It is quiet and still and does not pay attention to words or appearances; instead it senses the “essence” of things. It looks into the Soul of people, experiences and all things. It is a state of simply being present and just “knowing.”
It is a surrender, a merging with, a communion; it is just being present with no agenda.
One of the gifts of learning to listen is to realize that there is no “other.” There is only One; and the only way to “listen” is to merge with or become a part of that which you are listening to. There is no other way to “listen.”
Otherwise, all you are doing is judging and analyzing with your mind, and, by doing so, you separate yourself out from what you are listening to and experience it as “other” when it is not “other.” This is what creates all the conflict within our selves and with “others” and also all the conflict in the world. We see things as “other.” But really, how can anything or anyone be “other”?
